The Dogmother
13deg this morning, windy and drizzling. The rain has stopped for now but I am told that we're to expect thunder storms today. Much warmer out than in, but my office is always too warm.

percy049
Heatwave here! 30C temperatures mean super quick drying time for cleaning out houses! The only down side is that you almost die from sweltering in your wellies and trousers! UV index of 7 means all those germs will die too!
squiffs
Heatwave here too, the met office says: The probability of heatwave conditions in parts of England and Wales between 1200 on Sunday and 0900 on Tuesday is 60% so only til tuesday!?

Old Speckled Hen
There really is a north south divide here. I fell as if I am living on a different planet. Drizzle all yesterday. Overcast and humid with 20˚ today and rain forecast all week.
squiffs
i just hacked all the shrubs in my garden apart - and i seem to have inherited an 8ft towering bramble which is choking some plants in a bed, so i killed that one too - so much easier when everything's dried out! i hope this weather sticks so when i clean out the chooks midweek i can give it a good soak my laptop says it's 25 degrees in worthing right now - phew! i can feel i'm catching the sun! craftyhunnypie
Hot hot hot!!! We were sat outside eating ice creams earlier. My arms , shoulders & face have really caught the sun - reddy /brown , white watch marks & everything - I'm a bit tingly now.. Aftersun to the ready! Am inside now under the fan. Will be sat out under the veranda later for tea. I love this continental weather. Emma.x

The Dogmother
It started overcast and drizzly but we had our annual street party today, so were glad when it cleared up, although we all tried to keep out of the sun as it reached 36deg!!!! I kept coming inside to cool down as the house is always lovely and cool.
Chicken Licken
27 degrees in the garden at the moment - not bad for almost 8.30 pm. Dreading my portacabin classroom at work tomorrow - it will be like an oven.

The Dogmother
Yes, they are starting to stack up here now too. I have the windows on both sides of my office wide open and there's a nice breeze. I heard talk of storms later
squiffs
Yes, they are starting to stack up here now too. I have the windows on both sides of my office wide open and there's a nice breeze. I heard talk of storms later In my copy of the metro an 'internet weather forecaster' said something about tornadoes They then quoted a Met Office spokesperson who didn't mention tornadoes at all - quel surprise! The Dogmother
We don't ever seem to get them here, I have seen small tornado-type flurries when the conditions are right but perhaps we're just too hilly here.
squiffs
I've definitely never seen one - and we get incredibly high winds, being on the coast with no shelter, so I think the 'tornadoes' threat was a bit of scaremongering - would an eglu blow away in a tornado? Egluntyne
A This must be summer. Ah well, it was nice while it lasted. Two hot days and a thunder storm. Typical English summer. Thunder now rumbling in the distance, and rain drops the size of dinner plates coming down. At least I got my hedges cut.
