Chicken Licken
minus 9 C here this morning, and now a heady 1C. It is grey cloud with a brisk and cold breeze - snow on the way by all accounts, but I bet it has gone in time to get to work on monday - bah humbug. The Dogmother
Blimey! Just put my head out of the back door - cold as a nun's knickers out there - and clear sky. The lids of the wheelie bins are frozen shut and it's -2.5deg already - all the snow which melted today is going to end up as ice

He came from Telford area and said the temperature really dropped when he got past Kettering Had a job to open the eglu this morning to let the ex batts out. cloud
It's around -12C around Towcester according to reports. -13.5C has been reported on twitter by a local newspaper reporter. I must get my thermometer set up outside in a place I can read it. The one inside the greenhouse says -8C at the moment. Hope it will warm up soon. Our new girls must think they've been transported to Siberia.

cloud
Come here for some warm weather folks. Yes please. Found where I'd put our other thermometer. It was in the Summer House and is reading -12C and looks like at some point this winter it had dropped to -22C. Have reset it and we'll see what tomorrow brings. Still the sun is out and there is no wind so it's actually quite nice weather
Purplemaniacs
It is a nice bright day here too, Northants Rutland border. We were planning to go to the Snowdrop Sunday at Deene Park tomorrow, we went a few years ago and it was lovely also very cold I seem to remember but I have just looked at their website and it says it is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions I guess it is difficult to see the swathes of snowdrops through the snow, it is also on next weekend but I am busy with archery then so I can't go Chrissie

Heard on the local radio it got down to minus 18!!! in the Chipstead Valley. The weather enthusiast was very keen as is the lowest it has ever been with the lowest recorded before being minus 17. Chicken Licken
minus 14C here this morning, Cold again this evening a mere minus 9C!! Bring on the springtime. My poor chooks have retreated to the run, refuse to eat porrige and generally look disgusted with their cold white surroundings - can't say I blame them! Egluntyne
Big thaw here this morning. I can see the lawn again, in patches, and the hens water wasn't frozen solid for the first time in a week.

cloud
Warmer here too. Thermometers are both a little above zero and the snow is softer now. The sky is also cloudy which usually means warmer. Clouds can also mean snow, but it doesn't 'feel' like it will snow - can't say why, perhaps I'm wrong as Mum has had snow. (Where are you Mum?). The Dogmother
-6deg when we got back from my folks last night, we drove back through freezing fog on the A41 - so dense that I was crawling in 2nd gear along the white line with the hazard lights on. Luckily there wasn't anyone else on the road! Much milder this morning and everything has been thawing.
