You know you've been a mum too long...

When

1 Everyones sarnies are crustless and cut into 4's - after youngest son started school 5 yrs ago I did this for a week for OH - until he got cross and told me people were looking aghast in his office

2 You insist on a goodbye kiss from everyone - even visitors - some of ES mates look worried - must think I'm a cougar

3 I need a hand to hold when crossing roads - if its YS no prob I'm helping him, but ES of 15 and OH find it a tad annoying me hanging on their coat tales

4 I miss the pushchair - give me a shopping trolley and I feel secure

i am sure I'm not alone.

When you have baby wipes constantly at hand...and arnica spray, and a packet of free range raisins in the bottom of your handbag.

When you feel the need to constantly count heads......( although I'm In Primary Ed. and a Brownie Guider......so will be doing this forever :( )

When you butter and marmite your DD's friend's toast in the morning as well as your own and your DD's  When you still shout out, "wait " when crossing at road junctions even though they are 21 and very nearly 18 (I do also go for the hand grab thing if I'm not very careful to concentrate)...

I'm thinking I'm not the only one who used to push the shopping trolley backwards and forwards in a soothing fashion whilst debating a choice between Rich Teas and Digestives! Glad to say I haven't done that for years

I sure don't miss the wet wipes and spare pair of tiny pants in my bag though

Give it enough time and you might need a bigger size of spare pants in your bag  . (A very looooong time, hopefully!)

It's almost like the three ages of pants.

As a young lady, apparently some carry them in their handbags, just in case they stay out over night (not me, I was a good girl  )

As a mum, for your kids, just in case

As an elderly woman, just in case for you this time!

I do still miss my pushchair, especially when my arms feel like they are about to fall off with all the shopping bags!

Ditto to all of the above - and :lol: at the three ages of pants!!

I remember rocking shopping trolleys. It was perhaps more embarrassing when I was holding a piles of files ready to go into court and I would start rocking those to sleep!

I no longer have odd socks in my handbag - never sure how they ended up there even back in the old days! I also go to hold DS (16) hand when crossing the road. Maybe he can pass it off as being him helping me across??

yes - I feel sorta sad - no longer do I ferret in my bag and pull out a car, dinosaur or Thomas the tank - occ now find some wrestling cards or football cards all with big sweaty men on - the girls at work all grans stop work for a look and lear and giggle. Hopefully I will as a granny one day have an excuse for a pushchair or help across the road. As for pants I hope after my repair 2 yrs ago it may be a long time before I have to carry a pair of bloomers

When you hear yourself keeping up a bright commentary as you load the shopping trolley

"We'll just get some salad for Mummy's tea"

When you say "Oh look, darling....DIGGERS!" as you head up the motorway - then realise that one of your sons is driving and you are taking the other back to university

When you reach over to your neighbour's plate when out to supper, so you can cut up his meat (yes, that really did happen to me  ) - though it was, I promise, long ago)

I remember doing that with a bag of potatoes in the queue at Tesco.

Up until a few years ago my mum would try and hold my hand across the road. She'd also ask if I needed a wee before we went anywhere. I wouldn't have minded but I was in my early 30's at the time, hadn't lived at home for years and have two kiddies of my own. Still, gave DH a giggle
