CrookhamChooks
What an absolutely gorgeous chicken, I'm not surprised you had to take her home. Hollywater Hens is our nearest supplier ....... what else did they have there?
Christian
Hi Crookham, you're not to far from me. What to make it a day trip? Rhapsody - she is one stunning hen. Bizmillah is perfect! Or frankenhenna? The touble is, OH oftens goes out to check on our girls and i think he would notice a couple of new additions!
Rhapsody
I'm glad she gets the Omlet seal of approval- I will try to get a pic of her out of the hutch and you'll see how odd she is. I did worry about her last night in the hutch- no foxproofing and quite flimsy but its only for a couple of days. After my experience with my Sussex being poorly and giving it to one of the others I thought it would do as a 'hospital wing' - hopefully I'l never need it though! Jane at Hollywater only had a dozen hens left- mainly Corals and Copper Marans, also some Skylines in an outside pen (they were mental) and of course one weird Bluebelle she said she would be re-stocking with everything in July- may go back if I get a second eglu Ok better go make friends! Poor baby is sooo desperate to get out in the garden, but Magnifico keeps marching over and giving her A Look that makes me fear for her life.. ta ta Rhapsody
The Dogmother
Brilliant Rhapsody! I like your style I have to exercise great self restraint as the size of my garden is my limitation. It's my house, so i make the decisions, which isn't good really. I have to make sure that I don't accidentally have the chicken box in the back of the van when I go out I've been known to go to see Pearl for a chat and come back with a couple of hens before now

CrookhamChooks
Hi Crookham, you're not to far from me. What to make it a day trip? why not? sounds fun! and then I can say i was led astray if I come home with an extra hen or two ......... Rhapsody, when you say the Skylines were mental, did you mean as in flighty? Too flighty to kept in by omlet nettng, do you think?
Cinnamon
I would like to know more about the Skylines too, please. Were they pretty, & exactly how mental were they
Rhapsody
I wanted a Skyline til I met them- if I had a big free-range pen and my hens werent such pets I'd have got one. As soon as they saw us coming they all legged it into the coop and had to be ejected out by Jane, they were handsome hens, big tails and funny hairdo's quite leggy and gamey. I dont know about them getting over Omlet netting as I dont have any but I need something docile around the kids and other animals. If you guys go to Hollywater, PM me we could do coffee, I'm only 15 mins away. Husband has marched out to inspect new hen-"She's not that hideous" which is some kind of backhanded compliment! When the girls have laid I'll stick her in the eglu+run with the girls freeranging outside later, she is desperate to come out and join in the fun! My next door neighbour got a Copper Maran and the noise from his chicken pen is extraordinary, sounds like a cockerel having its toenails pulled out! Snowy
Please stop Rhapsody - I can't stop laughing! First I read your new signature - the 'cut and shut' mutant hen gets me giggling straight away. then I read about cockerels having their toenails pulled!! And I'm off again. ('cut & shut' )
Sheilaz
Well obviously you couldn't just leave her there once you'd seen her, she's amazing! I like very, very frightening for the name, looking at the picture. Love the captions, Rhapsody. An excellent decision today. Did your friend get one too as intended?
