Guest
As today is Harrys last SATs Exam, we asked him last week what he would like as a treat, he has been really good and gone to bed early every night without complaining, although I have to say he rarely complains He has asked for a chinese takeaway and to stay up very late and watch a film. He has chosen to watch Hot Fuzz the new Simon Pegg film, I hope it's suitable, we haven't censored it yet. Must look on Internet Movie Database and see what they have to say
Lynn in Bristol
Our son is having a friend for tea, and lots of pizza. I', just about to make a cake, too. I also promised him that he can have a new game for his Nintendo Wii (he had it last week for his birthday, and hasn't got anything to play on it). I'm having a large glass of wine (or two), as it's been a hard week for me too. Husband is probably going to have a fit when he works out how much this is all going to cost. Guest
I'll join you with the wine Lynn, it's been a stressful week
AnnieP
The children in my class are currently reading comics, sewing a picture or colouring in a geometric design. In a min we are going out onto the playground to play some games. That last maths paper today was a toughy. Bless their little hearts. Tina C
I was talking to someone last week about how I was dreading Layla reaching 16, when our local schools have prom nights. Not only do they get new frocks, but they have to have their hair and nails done and some even hire fancy cars and parade around the market square. I didn't realise we have to give them a party after their SATs too. I had better start saving... It is lovely to treat them though - they do seem to be put under so much pressure so young. Layla is only in Year 1 but I can already sense they are constantly being assessed if not actually tested. I am sure there must be sooo much paperwork for the teachers too. The first stress I remember was the 11 plus (actually the 12 plus for me). And being a bit of a girly swot I loved it
Guest
Annie, glad it's over. I think Harry is having a party at school this afternoon, he also has games. He has taken it all in his stride and has not been stressed at all Emma, do you think it will be suitable for Harry and Jules, they have watched Spaced and Shaun of the Dead so hopefully it will be the same type of humour At Harrys school they have an end of term prom/party for year 6, they all dress up on the last day of term, it's not a big thing though and we don't have to hire limo's or anything Tina, we aren't having a big party only the four of us and a takeaway. Harry says he is going to stay up til midnight . I think he will be on his own though
Tina C
It was meant to be tongue in cheek - I am the first one to suggest celebrating any of my 'baby's' achievements and getting through SATs will be one of them.... Glad to hear that the SATs have not stressed Harry, not so good that you have had a bad week - enjoy your wine, and the film.
theherd123
Emma, do you think it will be suitable for Harry and Jules, they have watched Spaced and Shaun of the Dead so hopefully it will be the same type of humour Im sure if it is of the same ilk as Shaun of the Dead it will be fine, from looking online it does say it has some violence and bad language but i cant imagine it to be of a Pulp Fiction style! Karen & co.
Christopher had his last SATs test too, and asked me to make a cake to take in to eat afterwards, while they celebrate I think he is planning a video night too karen x
Guest
From the clips I have seen, the violence looks quite comical and not serious.

TheGirlsMum
OUr little school trys to make light of the SATs and likes the results to be a true record of the children's abilities but the bigger schools around have weeks of after school cramming Is tjis really what they are about? ali-s
Well done to all the young people who have sat exams Jack sat his last standard grade exam yesterday. He was very laid back about all the exams. He even made sure that he was in bed by 9pm the night before an exam, not bad for a 16 year old Jack doesn't return to school until the 2nd June OH his taking him away for a few days on Sunday to wind down. They are going on a cycling/camping jaunt, taking the bare essentails - one change of clothes each and sharing a towel (its a male bonding thing I think). The weather is not promising but the rain will make them clean

Hope you all enjoy your wines and treats after the SATS. Sounds like they are all well deserved. Debs, we loved Shaun of Dead. Let us know about Hot Fuzz. Sheilaz
Esther & her school threw themselves into year 6 SATs, which were finished by mid morning. All year 6 are off to the Isle of Wight next week (educational but great fun) and then half term, so a lovely way to finish. But, rec'd call from school at 11 am to say that a girl had accidently run into E. and her teeth had wounded E. (The other child was amazingly OK but E. had a deep, flappy bite wound) Well, I was literally just about to go into a solicitor's with bro & sis, so all I could do was check it wasn't an emergency & explain I couldn't get there until after the meeting, which was OK with school, but poor Esther! I tried to phone son to go for me, but he wasn't about. This was following my brother arriving just in time for the meeting, having planned to meet us for coffee first. He stood reflecting as his train was approaching & realised that he needed his passport & address proof & had to leg it back home & get the next train. Esther & I were at the hosp. 2 hrs later then waited an hour (it was nurse led, so at least not the 5hr A & E wait, Lesley!) and it is a horrible bite to the top of her head. Needed lots of cleaning & iodine (OUCH) and talk of not swimming or getting hair wet (on IOW, E. was ) then she nearly fainted (the iodine or thought of no shower/swim? ) and made it to lie on the bed just in time. Poor girl wasn't up to anything else, so just at all the fun she was missing. Her class were to have an afternoon of marble time (class fun to reward good behaviour over time), plus pics of where they are staying. Felt like Fri.13th today! Especially after all the hard work and looking forward to a treat for her efforts. what total rotten bad luck. Makes me all humphy thinking about it. Love to Esther and little rays of sunshine xxxx
Mrs Frugal
Oh poor Esther . That sounds horrible. I hope it's all healed up soon. What a brave girl.
Sheilaz
Oh Sheila....did I read it right that Esther can't go to the Isle of Wight now?.... ... No, she should be fine to go, thanks Gina, it was just my over dramatic description of the day's events. There is a girl in the class who can't go because of a recently broken leg, poor thing. We did talk about that, & feel lucky that even though today was bad, it wasn't that bad.
Cinnamon
Poor Esther A couple of years ago Cleo & a boy were running toward each other, around a corner, clashed & his teeth went into the forehead. She had to have stitches & he lost a tooth - he was due to be Best Man at his Mums wedding the following day Cleo still has a scar, but its high up,just below the hairline. Isn't it horrible when our little ones get injured. You feel so useless
