chicken related injuries...

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, while attaching some weldmesh to my new WIR I managed to staple myself in the stomach - not sure how - not sure I could even recreate the situation again - but Yes - I stapled myself in the stomach.

Thankfully it was a short staple and I had three layers of clothing on but I am now sporting a rather interesting wound that looks like a small vampire bite - not quite the tummy tuck I had in mind :D

Come on...I've confessed...share your chicken related injuries with me

Strained a calf muscle trying to catch an escaped hen last week, still limping.

S"Ooops, word censored!"ed shin dropping a cube off its wheels onto right foot.

OH sported a nasty gash just to the side of his eye from a cockerel who didn't want to be caught.

Beach Chick - tut tut, copy the hens and go under!

omg, those flipping green clips!! so painful, never again - I'm a cable tie girl now, much easier to adjust when you are getting everything where you want it, and to remove again.

meanwhile, am going off to check out bouldercroft's DIY tummy tuck - chicken that I am though, I will not be DIYing!

I thought I was going to exsanguinate!

I had to look it up in the dictionary

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Ditto :anxious:

In my line of work it's one of those words you learn but hope to never have to use on paperwork. :?

As far as chicken related injuries go, we've escaped anything too serious so far with only sore thumbs from green clips, aching muscles from screwdriver use, and fat lips from flapping wings.

Ouch! some of these sound really nasty :?

Worst I can boast is a 5inch long and rather deep gash up my left arm (one of my original Orps who turned out to be a boy kicked out at me in disgust as I attempted to lift him back into the run after a 7am Chicken Run-style escape attempt). 5 months later, it's still rather red and sore looking, so i think the scar is there to stay.

Never mind, now I've got a complete set of scars from every type of animal I've owned

Tripped over the silkie whilst trying not to tread on her. Slipped on ice while putting chicken food in the greenhouse (their change of scenery whilst knee deep in snow) landing on back and hurting my dignity (OK my bum took the worst of it - plenty of cushion there). Twisted ankle in netting - but the other ankle came out in sympathy and swelled up while the twisted one soon was fine! Been pecked by the buff sussex from hell numerous times. Been smacked on the nose by flapping orpie wings and thought I'd broken it - it throbbed for ages after! In her desperation to escape being scaley mite sprayed an orpie dug into my arm and made a gash from elbow to wrist (this is probably the worst one), some parts deeper than others. Still have the scars, so Benaberry sounds very similar and you might have scarring too - er I see the orpie is the culprit there too. I've also had talons (yep) dug in my tummy where they go through the shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts etc. and on the boobs. But stapling stomach I have yet to do. OOOOOOOOOOUCHEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

it was surprisingly not too painful a bit like getting my ears pierced...

poor hubby couldn't decide whether to give me sympathy or laugh - so he did a bit of both

this was happening while we were in the run stapling the last of the weldmesh and the chickens were on the outside free-ranging....we looked at each other with the same exact thought 'who's keeping who'

:D
