Daughter having 3 teeth out

Recommended Posts

So I don't hijack Donald's thread, I thought that I would start another. My YD is having 3 pre-molars out at once on monday morning prior to having braces fitted next month. Has anyone else has this many out at once and how did they get on? She is quite scared but has very overcrowded teeth and wants them to look nice. :anxious:

DD had 4 out at once just before braces. The dentist thought it best to have them all out at the same time rather than wait and go back for more.

She was absolutely fine. Wounds healed up really quickly. she had braces and now has beautiful teeth.

I wasn't fine! Held her hand supportively and turned away, but accidentally watched the whole process in the window reflection!

No dont worry you havent hijacked my extraction!

My son had 4 premolars out at the dentist under local prior to having a brace I was gutted for him as they were perfectly healthy teeth(I wish they could have given them to me). He did have crooked teeth and I let him decide if he wanted to have it done. It broke my heart to let him have such healthy teeth out in the name of vanity! But he wanted it done as they were crook.

He was sore but healed very fast, probably couple of days. Also must say I had a lingering abscess etc but the extraction doesnt actually hurt at all, they gave me loads of local and put that numbing gel on the gum first. No different to having local for a filling etc. Lots of tugging. My son was only in the room a few minutes I wasnt allowed in, and he was good as gold.

Good luck my son has perfect teeth , no fillings, unlike me

Just make sure you get the relevant anti inflammatory and pain relief in(no aspirin as it can cause bleeding)

My son had 4 teeth out last year, his had sunk and were worn down, he grinds his teeth. He's now got a full set of braces on his teeth. He has one tooth that hasn't come down yet that is virtually horizontal when you see it on the x-ray. Bit worried about what that will do to the others.

He was put out to have the teeth out as he'd had a bad experience with having one tooth out when he was about 6. As it turned out he wasn't bothered about it, it was more me. It was horrible watching them tugging at his tooth and he'd needed 2 injections in the gum as the first didn't take.

They let us leave within about 10 minutes of YS coming round and both me and OH had to support him to get him to the car. Luckily I sat in the back with him as he was very animated and attempted to open the car door as we were driving along  I was hoping he would sleep when we got him back home but he didn't. I think he needed one set of pain relief tablets and that was it. So all in all it wasn't too bad.

I'm hoping for perfect teeth when he's finished with his braces. Our orthodontist has been absolutely brilliant with YS, so kind and caring and fully explains everything to him before she does anything. :D

My son had four teeth out a couple of years ago, but he had to have three injections as they weren't working :( however he was fine afterwards , his gums healed quickly and he got his braces a couple of weeks later, he had the braces off last October and has got gorgeous perfect teeth now :D

I had two taken out about a week ago, one molar and one canine (they were both milk teeth, though). I had mine taken out under general anaesthetic because I had a couple of other things done (my mouth is like a disater area  I think it's safe to say that I'll never have nice teeth  ). I think the main thing they wanted to do was realease my tongue tie (which was utterly pointless, as it hadn't affected my speech or anything like that, and it left me in agony for DAYS :(:( I seriously didn't eat for an entire week. )

Anyway, the tooth extractions were by far the least painful of all the things they did in my mouth. It hasn't caused me any pain and it only bled once. They give you some gauze to bite on in case it does bleed, because apparently if you use cotton wool the fibres break off of it and makes the clot all fluffy.

They said that I could rinse my mouth out with saline, but I've heard other people say not to rinse afterwards because it can cause the clot to break off :?

Slightly different to a local anesthetic but my son had 3 teeth (1 baby 2 supernumery sp?) removed last month. The 2 supernumery were still up in his gum (not visible) and he now has a nice gold chain attatched to his front tooth to help it descend, brace being fitted next month. His operation was only a day case, Op at 1pm home by 8pm mouth full of stitches very swollen and sore but the hospital sent hime home with normal painkillers and he was fine. Eating toast as soon as he was back on the ward.

My son had 4 premolars out (I still have them and he is 26  ) at the dentist using local injection prior to having a brace I think I was more nervous than him he was as cool as a cucumber about the whole thing I seem to remember him making more of a fuss about the sharp bits of the brace cutting into his mouth despite the wax he was supplied with to cover the sharp bits.

Hope all goes well for your daughter tomorrow. My son (10yrs) had 10 teeth removed at one go about 6 months ago - only 2 were permanent teeth (long and boring story), and it was done under general anaesthetic, but he was fine with it. A bit miserable the first day but within a couple of days had stopped needing painkillers - his only concern was would he be able to cope with pizza by the end of the week because of his regular 'pizza evening' at a friend's house

Same with my 2 girls teeth out no problems but complained about the brace cutting the inside of their mouth even with wax.

All 3 kids 24,21 and 20 have lovely teeth :D no fillings for any of them :D

unlike me :(

The deed is done, I hadn't read the letter properly it was 3 of her molar baby teeth that she needed out, one of which had come out since her last orthodontist visit so she has had one on the top left and one on the bottom left removed. She has had the giggles since we left the dentist, she is high on adrenaline I think, she was shaking in the chair after the aneasthetic was put in and went as white as a sheet, but was very brave. :D

She is hating the numbness on her left side, I am taking her into town soon a little reward may be in order. :D
