Janepie33
My little Ford KA has just dramatically failed its MOT. It's so rusty its about to fall apart apparently! It's quite old and probably not worth fixing, so I'm looking around for another small car. The KA is great, but the only disadvantage for me is the very very small boot space. I rather like the look of the Nissan Micra and was wondering if anyone has one and what they think of it. Any other small car suggestions gratefully received. yvonne
My OH had a Micra for ages, we loved it - seemed surprisingly spacious for a small car. It was an old model though, I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows about the newer models.
stoice
What is your budget? Brand new or second hand? I've got a skoda fabia greenline (eco diesel) so it's got great fuel economy. It was a major factor as i do lots of miles a day. I also car share and there is plenty of room for four adults (even the six footers!). Boot space is cracking too. It's a pretty spacious small car really. I previously had an 02 clio and it developed an apparently common water ingress problem into the loom and cpu (Majorly expensive to fish around and fix) but up until then it was a great car. Don't know much about the newer shape but it looks bigger than my 02 shape and i was quite happy with boot size on that one. Before i settled on my fabia I looked into getting as fiat 500, citroen c1 (toyota aygo and peugot 107 use the same plan as the c1), or a suzuki swift but they all had dinky boots for what i wanted and fitting adults in the back would be a little cramped. I'd have loved a mini but budget wouldn't allow. My dad had a nissan micra and i thought it was great. It was an early version of the 'frog eyed' shape as i call it, so it's sound proofing wasn't great but it was very funky and the boot wasn't too tiny either. I think there is another new shape out now that looks a little like a fiat punto to me but i don't know what that is like.
Janepie33
Second hand up to around 2,000 or 2,500 at a push. So many to choose from. I don't know where to start! I don't do very many miles, but I spend my days driving around locally and taking bags of toys in and out of the car.
Cinnamon
I can hugely recommend the new shape Fiat Pandas - I love mine, & the boot fits a bale of Aubiose & 2 sacks of feed,if thats a help Also the back seats squish flat & that gives you heaps of space...easily enough for an Eglu & run. Its lovely & nippy, cheap to run & a great little car all round. Hubby is just as enamoured & finds it comfy to drive at 6foot 2 with size 13 feet
stoice
I had to strap in my bale of aubiose into the front passenger seat when i had a sack of feed in the boot of my clio! Got some looks I can tell you.
Egluntyne
Fiat Pandas are OK. You can get a bale of Aubiose and 2 sacks of layers pellets on the back seat, stacked on top of each other.

Janepie33
Looks like the welding is not as expensive as we thought, so it's a bit of a patch up job on the old car and no new one yet. Shame. I was quite looking forward to a new car.
redhotchick
I love the way car boot space is measured in Aubiose and feed sacks on this forum.
Purplemaniacs
Where else would the worth of a car be measured in its capacity to carry bedding and feed and its ability to fit an eglu in the boot? Never mind safety ratings and gadgets, how much chook keeping equipment can be fitted in? I can't comment I have just got a new phone on the basis I can get a purple case for it Chrissie
Reikiranf
Yes it is funny, we can visualise aubiose & feed sacks whereas if someone says how many litres etc then it's either whoosh right over my head or I work out how many times the size of my 30 ltr kitchen bin it is. My Dad laughed at me when I was first married and wanted him to build a cupboard in an alcove for me and he asked how big it was and I said two rolls of wallpaper and an Ariel box I have since learned to use a tape measure And while we're talking about cars, I've chosen my new one because it makes me laugh
gongladosh
I'd go for a fiat panda 4x4 - they look funkier
Cinnamon
At the most, before having my pandas back seats down, I have managed to squeeze 4 bales of Aubiose in her,but I couldn't see out the back window very well
Lavenders_Blue
I love the way car boot space is measured in Aubiose and feed sacks on this forum. I must be missing something - is there another way of measuring boot space then?! p.s. Just one feed sack in the boot of my little Kia Picanto. Lots of space available with the seats folded down though!

Then bought a protective purple case for it. Then bought a purple kettle that matched the phone and case. Then bought purple kitchen blinds that matched the kettle and phone and case and then had a Gellish manicure that matched the phone, case, kettle and blinds
