dancing cloud Posted July 6, 2011 Share Posted July 6, 2011 (edited) Seeking lots of positive vibes from my fellow Omleteers for an interview/presentation later this afternoon/evening, please . Like many others, my Council is having a major restructure to cut costs and I'm competing with my colleagues to keep a job. Head of Service posts are being cut by more than half, so there's 2 or 3 of us for each post and my final interview is today . Those that don't get jobs are not being allowed to compete for anything else and will be made redundant, so no pressure .At the moment the interview's likely to start at 5.30 and go on till about 7.00, but timing's a bit flexible around our Chief Executive and I'm trying hard not to climb the walls in the meantime. I've done all the assessments and technical interviews (no feedback yet) and I'd really like to do well in this final presentation/interview stage - any and all positive vibes you can send my way will be very welcome indeed . I'm reasonably happy that I did OK, but obviously it depends on how well other candidates do and how well any of us match what the Chief Exec is looking for. dancing cloud Posted July 10, 2011 Author Share Posted July 10, 2011 A bit of mixed news by way of update and a request for more positive vibes for this week please. Despite performing well, I didn't get the most likely of the jobs I went for internally . The feedback was very positive, except for a few details "for improvement" (well they could hardly say I was wonderful and then select someone else!) and I'm still being considered for two other internal posts. They were rather speculative applications though and I'm not hugely optimistic about them. I am however going for further assessments and interviews for a similar job to mine with a council in Wales and their interviews etc are Tuesday and Wednesday, so any and all positive vibes for then will be very gratefully received . The council is based at Ruthin in North Wales, which looks to be a stunningly beautiful place to live (lots of land for chooks) and what I've read about the council itself sounds very encouraging - all forward-thinking and dynamic and concerned with getting the best for their community. On the face of it, it looks like a great place to live and work - and I'm sure the chooks can learn to demand their treats in Welsh . Like everyone, I really would prefer to get another job before my notice here expires and this one looks a real opportunity - as many positive vibes as you can send will be very welcome! Not great news as I didn't get the job in Wales or either of the internal posts . Feedback from Wales was very positive - performed very well but the chosen candidate was a better fit for their organisation. No feedback yet from the internal posts. There's still possible suitable alternative employment internally . I don't honestly think they want to keep me here, but as an employer they have the duty to look for and offer me suitable alternative employment, and the potential post pays a lot less than I earn now - however less cake is better than no cake at all! It's easier to say than do, but perhaps look on this as an opportunity to evaluate and think about a number of other directions? I'm sure you have a myriad of transferable skills - and remember it's the post that's redundant, not you as a person. You are still wonderful - just need the right fit!
