Lesley
We have ploughed fields around us - I know that harvest and ploughing have become earlier over the last few years but it's been August recently........it's still only July!! Quite disconcerting.....I feel I should find my winter woollies out.

Snowy
A lot of our fields look very ripe and ready too! Won't be long before they are cut and ploughed - very early your way though Lesley!

Chook n Boo Mum
.............and scatter...........*cough, I won't go on * When I read this I thought "crumbs, wonder which one of theirs they've ploughed.....and when they had the time " Crops are looking ripe here too, but we are a good bit further south than you Lesley We still haven't taken the winter cover off our pool yet.....it can't be harvest time already
Egluntyne
.............and scatter...........*cough, I won't go on * I can't get this hymn out of my head since Lesley's original post. Scary how autumn seem to be upon us already.
sage
I picked 2 lb of wild brambles yesterday. I think they are about usually ripe early/mid September. Sage

Chicken Licken
All of the oil seed rape is harvested and the fields ploughed. The Barley has just been harvested and I reckon the wheat will be combined at the end of the week. It doesn't take it long at all to start looking autumnal. I also ate my first blackberries today -good job autumn is my favourite season!!
craftyhunnypie
Brother in law started combining the wheat last Saturday. We are hoping to make Haylage from our fields, before it gets too late. The maize doesn't seem to have grown as tall & strong this year - I'm quite surprised. Won't be long until we are taking crisp walks in crunchy orange leaves. The Dogmother
I'm only 20 mins from Lesley and we already have fields just about to be harvested - I was walking through them yesterday and the ears of wheat that I picked were ripe. I've been picking wild blackberries for about 10 days now There are red leaves, from the recent cool spell, on trees and bushes here...... I can't remember when we last had this
Purplemaniacs
Lots of tractors and trailers past here this week, the farmers are very busy. The smell of combining I love, it takes me back to my childhood, I loved harvest time. Chrissie
The Dogmother
We were up at Phil's folks place on Tuesday (they still live on the farm) and the fields at the top of the Chilterns look ready too.
Lesley
I thought you'd all be singing We had a 10 minute warning of our hay being delivered yesterday, a month earlier than last year. The man who brought it owns the land being used as parking for the Global Gathering so it needed to be done by today, he said he's 1200 bales short this year because of the weather. I'm glad our blackberries aren't ready yet, I'm still drowning in greengages.....and the damsons are nearly ready.

The Dogmother
A field I often walk in looks to be planning on two hay harvests - they topped and baled it at the end of May when it was really quite high. Now it is growing that way again.
chickencam
We have been driving around all over the place this week because OH has been off work and most of the fields look ready to harvest or already have been, they have also taken haylage off the field next to our house. There are lots of trees turning and blackberries and sloes around, all of the roadside verges are brown too.
The Dogmother
Our sloes are a bit behind, but a week or so more of sunshine and they will be ready.
