A level results & going to Uni

Recommended Posts

but I am NOT doing her washing

Humm anyone interested in placing bets on how long before Sarah is doing Devon's washing when she goes to uni

My bet is holding out until halfway through first term... Sarah will you be owning up

I am quite nervous for tomorrow, but I have backup plans ranging from Plan A to Plan F

I like your style :) lets hope it's plan A

I found out I'd got my place at brum before I found out my results - I then found out I hadn't got the AAB I needed to get in, I'd got ABD (I was ill throughout most of my second year and had a lot of time off so my french grade really suffered from a borderline B/A in first year to a U in second year). I got accepted based on points, I got 380 (3 A2s and 2 AS). Which was 20 more than their grade requirements would have made.

That has reassured me too.

Do they do this automatically....work out the points, does anyone know?

Although her Unis of choice have said they want AAB,if she does get an A* at English, but only a C in something else, then there still may be hope based on points???

Loads of luck to everyone waiting  . We went through this a couple of weeks ago so I know that churning feeling so well. It would be great if they made a mistake and sent out the results a day early like they did in Scotland so at least you could all sleep tonight  .

A friend's son needed an A in a Higher, he wasn't well and only got a C but after an email explaining the circumstances, he still got in. So don't despair if you don't get what you've been told you need :D .

We are waiting here too, for DS who has an offer from Reading....he's relatively calm, but I'm seriously considering a small libation as a sedative for my nerves!!

Thanks to those who posted the very helpful information about Clearing, which I have shared with a friend already who is also on tenterhooks for these results....

Good Luck to everyone who is waiting for their results..xx

Hope all goes well, I went to Kent Uni (in the 1980s) and had a fab time there, though it looks a lot bigger and less collegiate (sp ??) now.

Good Luck to everyone!

A Level results have fallen on the same day that they did 27 years ago when I got mine. I only remember it as it was my 18th birthday and I was in Benidorm with a load of mates!

I ended up at UKC as well. It is where I met OH. We went for a wander round a couple of years ago when we happened to be in Canterbury and hardly recognised the place. Just wondered what college you were in Yvonne! I was Eliot and OH was Rutherford!

We have DS's GCSE results next week - along with lots of others on here!

Points stay the same for each grade every year:

A* - 140 points

A - 120 points

B - 100 points

C - 80 points

D - 60 points

E - 40 points

taken from here

It depends on the university, some want points, whilst others want grades, check the prospectus

Brum said they wanted the grades, but still let me in based on points, I think if your points are higher they generally can't argue with letting you on unless it's a particularly oversubscribed course such as english, law, psychology or drama.

Also for AS results the points are halved.

A* -70

A - 60

B - 50

C - 40

D - 30

E - 20
