Egluntyne
The original 'Big Tree' blew over about 15 years ago ... today's casualty is its replacement. Something tells me that they need to formulate a new plan.
The Dogmother
I'd say so! Bit like where i live - they built a sports centre and sheltered housing on the flood plain between the river and the canal - you can guess the rest... the sports centre has since been re-sited after 2 very bad floods and damage into the £1m arena. ClaireG
I've had to pick the wheelie bins up 3 times this afternoon and have now given up picking up two of my plant pots! Not heard of any major damage around here yet.
Ain't Nobody Here
I hope ANH is OK. It's sure blowing a gale . Not sure what the windspeed is but there are some ferocious gusts. 3 out of 5 of my brand new acrylic panels on the WIR blew out while I was at work (they are intact thankfully!). Hope OH gets home OK on his bike .
Paola
I wont mention that I am enjoying the wind as I am getting loads of washing dried on the line
Mrs Webmuppet
There's some pretty fierce gusts here in sunny Suffolk...........it's suprisingly warm and sunny considering. The two big oak trees across the way are getting a hammering, they are a safe distance away from the house.
chuckmum6
Branch down in my back garden, plant pots all over, the outside table has blown over and the dog kennel have moved right across the patio! The wind has certainly active here, my feather ball Pekins are hauled up in the run, the others are certainly moving much more quickly around the garden than they intended!!!! sparkysmum
Decidedly stormy here & had a scary drive back from Strathyre where I work. However the hens don't seem to notice They're still out in the garden. Admittedly they couldn't actually get into their run this afternoon since the wind blew the bins across the doorway, but even after I sorted this out they stayed put. Daft things. The Dogmother
I wont mention that I am enjoying the wind as I am getting loads of washing dried on the line I'm surprised it's still on the line - wouldn't be if you were up here, it has slowed down a bit now and is just blumming windy as opposed to tumble dryer action. Alis girls
Blustery but warm here - put the girls out to FR but they seemed to blow back into the run - knickers well ruffled. They looked pretty hacked off esp as OH laughed - very naughty
The Dogmother
The gales stopped last night, I couldn't believe the peace and quiet after all that buffeting.
gongladosh
so far, the north west gales seem to have been a bit of a non-event. Thankfully!

Griffin
It's more windy today here than it was yesterday. My runner beans fell over

Ain't Nobody Here
Still very blustery here. No sailing in the Firth of Forth with Outdoor Education today, unsurprisingly . It's turned quite chilly .
LolaLayla
It's turned quite chilly . Yes, put the heating on for the first time in ages. Went out earlier and the rain was horizontal
The Dogmother
Yes, it sounds as if it's getting windier here again and it feels cooler.
LolaLayla
What a change today. Much calmer and no rain....hurray! Think I will just keep that heating on the timer now though
chickencam
We had a very windy day on Monday, a tree came down nearby in the morning before it got too windy, so I thought that there would be more in the afternoon when it was at it's worst, but they didn't. The old sash windows in out Regency office buidling were rattling in an alatming way, bit it was all fine. In actual fact it was weirdly warm and I was bathed in sunshine at my desk on Monday afternoon and rather too warm. Yesterday was beautiful at times with a clear blue sky and fantastic light quality but we did have a couple of brief showers that ran through quickly on the wind. It was much cooler and fresher yesterday and quite cold overnight 7 or 8 degrees. It is mild and breezy here today with a fair amount of cloud and sunny spells, hopefully a good wash day. ali-s
Don't know if this is the tail end of Katia but it is very windy here today. A good drying day but too windy to get the washing on the line. I was blown over on to my knees walking up the drive after collecting the mail from the box and the trees at the end of the drive are bending a lot in the wind . The Tornado jets haven't taken off yet today which is always a bad sign weather wise. At least it has stopped raining and the Cottage is getting a good airing as I have got every window open, I'm a bit chilly though.
