I always admired her for being true to herself and her size.... Wonder why she's lost weight

Pics were on internet, Mail on-line. I saw that she was using a walking stick a short while ago before she lost weight, I don't know if her size was the cause but she was getting large. She's always managed to look good whatever but I guess if her health was being affected she's wise to shed a bit. At 53 she needs to plan for a healthy old age. It's the reason I exercise, I don't want old age to catch me napping.

I suspect that you are right, you see many older, large people with sticks, the weight must affect their joints. I respect anyone for their life choices, provided that they are happy and hurting no one else, but there often comes a point where you realise enough is enough. I am coming to that myself, I am a slightly lumpy 44 year old and have taken inspiration from Lulu and Anita Dobson on Stictly, they are both in their 60's and have so much energy and zest for life. I was very fit in my youth and I would like to be fit enough to enjoy my later years too.

I read an article recently about an American lady who lives in Boston. She's 75 and a bodybuilder, amazing zest for life and fitness. Bodybuilding isn't my kind of thing but to be that supple and content at that age is inspiring. Apparently she didn't start exercise until she was 56 when she and her sister went shopping for swimsuits and made each other laugh.

Well Dawn French doesnt look unrecognisable, same quirky lopsided smile thank goodness. She does look rather good but then I liked her before too, a lovely lady inside and out

She is,whatever her size,a very beautiful woman with great skin, sparkly eyes & wonderful glossy hair.

 

I guess I am around her pre diet size & find her weight loss a real inspiration, but she slimmed down a lot once before,just before getting married to Lenny & wore a size 12 wedding dress.

I hope this time she keeps it off & again finds happiness.

I'm a huge fan of both her and Lenny Henry and used to live near them in Berkshire, I read in her book that she felt obligated to lose weight before because of their adoption, so hope this time it was entirely her choice and that it's a happy time for her. (Their daughter did dog training at the same place as me, they all seemed very down to earth people). Wonder if she'll still do the chocolate orange ads ?

Yes, I have seen them often in the local Nandos - they seemed like really nice people,not at all showbizzy & very much a family.

Shame it didn't work out for thm,but with dawn looking so good I suspect she won't be single for long

I think she looks older in the face now but that's 'cos she'd have lost all the weight, not putting her down!

I know what Lewis means. I meet up with a group of mates every so often and - of all of us - the one that looks youngest is the one who is (dare I say it) the chubbiest! The wrinkles are really showing on the rest of us!

She looks fab in both photos. I actually preferred her with a bit more weight on her - not to the full extent she was before, but a bit more on her face maybe. I agree she looks older now.

Always liked her though! I think if you have a bubbly personality, then you see through the skin - if you know what I mean!

I think she looks fab and to be fair to her the bottom photo was taken in 2005 so that's 6 years ago

 

I think her hair has always looked lovely, nice and dark and shiny. I loved her in the Vicar of Dibley.

Although I find that keeping on a bit of weight to look younger only works if you never, ever stand next to a young slim person.

I lost 5 stone last year & know how amazing you feel I always have thought she is stunningly beautiful, & now she has extra sparkle that comes from knowing how well you have done

She is just such an attractive person regardless of her weight. I think she looks a bit better slimmer but that is probably cos she looks healthier as well, especially as we all know how big she was to begin with. I know a few men who fancy her, large or small!
