memphisto
Just wondering after meeting the lovely Sammiboo last week who had travelled quite a way to get her Silkies, how far have you travelled to get your chickens? Just wondering how many miles we've clocked up between us all?! I'll start with my as they are all from various places: Bubbles, Penny, Dilys, Maisy, Willow- 8 mile round trip (x2) Ruby & Lottie- 86 mile round trip Phoebe & Tilly- 86 mile round trip Lola & Livvy- Breeder brought to me, met nearby- 4 mile round trip Edie- 86 mile round trip Saffron & Savannah- 132 mile round trip Tabitha-12 mile round trip Isla- 98 mile round trip (with Tabs in the back!) Angel, Baby, Holly, Star 106 mile round trip Lily & Sophie (looking after for someone, unsure for how long) 24 mile round trip Total Chicken Mileage= 650 miles So along the lines of the total chicken counter....add your mileage to the post above and see how far we've travelled! House MD 221B
That's some amazing figures, ours is a little different as We lived in Coalville, Leicestershire, when Sally got her first 2 from Omlet (delivered) so not sure where they came from, but when we moved house to the Isle of Wight, our 4 girls made the 3 hour car journey and 1 hour ferry crossing without so much as a bwark! We were so proud of them but I should imagine Coalville - IOW = 200 Miles and oxford - coalville = 40 miles? so 240 Miles ish making it 3,
Ain't Nobody Here
Wow . I've made 3 trips to the same farm, about 20 miles away. so total 120 miles .

chookingham
1st 2 girls delivered, so no mileage. Next 3 girls round trip of 50 metres - my neighbour used to raise hybrids. 3 orps from Power Poutry in Norfolk, so about 120 mile round trip, and the latest 3 from Jessie's Hens in Cambridge, another 20 mile round trip. So 140 miles and 50 metres (should I have used yards with miles - oh well ).

Olly
A great idea first two - Omlet delivery = 0 miles by me, presumably the van was making other deliveries adopted three; 26 mile round trip, had to do it twice as the owner came with me and I took him home, so 54 miles one adopted: delivered, so 0 miles again, although I could guess at a 10 mile round trip for the owner: 20 miles bought three: 30 miles away = 60 miles two hatched in school incubator, and delivered by friend who kindly raised them to POL for me: 26 miles Total: 160 miles

Luvachicken
My first 2 came straight from Omlet so no miles there. The 4 lovely girls I have now came from just outside Milton Keynes which was 77 miles from Fleet. So 154 miles altogether
Lewis
I can't really remember everyone but... Trio of d'Anvers = 8miles + add Babs = 8 miles 4 hybrids Cotswold Chickens = 120 miles Rehomed from Nuneaton = 40 miles Cilla, Alice, Mabel + Audrey from Northampton = 100 miles ... X3 trips (at least! ) Seymour from Tamworth = 14 miles National Show = 50 miles Cotswold Chickens for green layer = 120 miles = 660 miles But if you add miles to Chickeny work = another 10,000 miles over Summer and another 320 every week since September Can't even think of the all the shows and other bits! jackian
Mine are all omlet girls and I suppose 20 miles at the most .. Of course the lovely Omlet guy had to go back again. But knowing what I know now ,that I did not know about Chickens then ..I would have gone 200 miles at least for them myself and more

fluffy chick
All the chickens I've had (17 in total) either came to me to be rehomed (0 miles for me) or from 1 of 2 breeders just down the road. So maybe er 20 miles, at a push
surfer_chicken
36 mile round trip + 20 mile round trip + 2x 36 mile round trip = 128 miles I didn't think it would be that much as all our journeys have been less than 30 mins each way! Though 128 miles/10 chickens = 12.8 miles per chicken which makes me feel a bit better
