Dragged myself out of bed this morning to let the girls out, because of the snow round their house they clearly thought it wasn't time to get up yet. Still, no doubt the neighbours enjoyed seeing me tramping about the garden in my dressing gown and wellies

Phillip hasn't crowed yet. He and snow don't get on. He stayed in and demanded room service for a week last year.... The new ex-bats are entranced. The others just look like -" on, not again". It's thawing fast here though.

Poor Philip got to keep those beautiful feathers defrosted.

 

Mine aren't squawking like they usually do in the morning just mumbling quietly at the snow. No fun when the sound doesn't travel

Mine are not impressed as there is snow all over their WIR and it looks dark in there. I need to get out there and s"Ooops, word censored!"e it all off. I was pleased with the way the WIR stood up to it though , really dry in there.OH did a good job with my directions

 

Shame really as yesterday was the first time my old and new girls had FR together nearly successfully. Today I was going to carry on the FR before they forgot they could get on with each other .

Petra nearly broke her neck ... went to dash out, saw the snow and slipped when she couldn't get back into her 'Lu quick enough!!

 

Took a good few minutes of heads peering from the 'Lu's looking out into the WIR wondering who'd re-carpeted during the night. Still, good Mum that I am, I raked it over so it looked more "normal" and then they came out to eat/drink

 

I've warned them not to eat any yellow snow and left them to it.

It took mine 15 mins to come out of the covered run....the ran across the garden and tucked themselves under the bushes where the snow has already fallen and are sitting sulking with their bottoms towards the snow

Still, good Mum that I am, I raked it over so it looked more "normal" and then they came out to eat/drink

 

We left ours to it, but I'm going to have to go do some raking if they don't venture out soon. I'm a bad chicken mum

Mine are still loitering at the end of the covered run, poking suspiciously at the snow with their beaks and chuntering to each other. I thought they were braver than that..but I guess it is their first ever snow

They're not used to getting their water delivered like that. Mine were pecking it off my wellies

All five of mine are squashed up in the two metre eglu run, refusing to come out. I sprinkled some mealworms down and they cautiously came out, snaffled them up, and ran back inside again

Ours were REALLY REALLY loud this morning - opened the Cube door, and then...silence....

3 ladies came down and then stood in the run "what is this white stuff - I ordered mealworms and grapes not this white stuff" "Well I'm not moving".....

OH cleared the snow away from the run and then with the snow shovel (what is it with men and snow shovels...), cleared a path from the run down to the kitchen, where they promptly tucked into some warm porridge.

They stayed within the path carefully dug for them and then tucked into some sultanas.

They are seriously not impressed.....

Hubby and I went out to dig the chickens out this morning as we know what wusses they are Despite clearing some ground for them, the old girls are refusing to come out of their covered run. I expect that they will stay under there until it clears - even if it takes a week! The new girls are not in the slightest bit fazed and have declared business as usual

My lot were tentative at first too...normally most of them fly out, never mind the ladder but they weren't sure this morning

Love it!!! Mine are all wondering what the "cluck" has happened and only my Coral, Sunny, wanted to come out into the snow, she suddenly looked a manky shade of very off-white Eva took 2 steps into it, turned tail and parked herself back in her coop

 

New girls and rescue girls still confined to their respective quarantine quarters but are all gazing at it in varying degree's of amazement....

My OH made it for me as I couldn't find what I wanted online or on the High Street. He really ought to sell them as they're great! I've got 3 in my WIR

Mine didnt mind at all got up this morning ( late ) but they had allreay come out and had been all over it was funny to see where they had been . i took loads of pics of them in the snow .

Mine came out in the bit I'd stood on, and soon retreated, apart from Matilda who went running around the place! Was very dark in the WIR!

Mine won't come out of the eglu! Yesterday I had to carry them into the WIR where there is woodchip - and then back into the eglu at bedtime -they just would not walk on the snow!!...looks like the same will apply today.
