I've been reading this thread with interest.

 

I've got the latest Avon catalogue in my hand and they are launching a new haircare range with Moroccan argan oil in. Shampoo, conditioner and argan oil leave in treatment. All at introductory prices.

 

I'm thinking of getting one of each as OH is driving me mad with 'hair talk' He has very dry hair which is in tight ringlets, and he is growing it again He spends a lot of time each morning trying to tame it, and is having some success taming the frizz with a 99p pot of henna conditioner which he leaves in each day, rather than washing out. He conditions his hair every day but doesn't wash it every day. He does use a hair dryer every day though and I'm wondering if he should stop this habit

 

Will the argan oil products leave hair looking wet? That is not the look he is going for

 

I'm no help as I have poker straight hair which is also greasy and looks much the same whatever the time of day or whatever I do to it.

I put some extra Moroccan oil on my ends the other day as they were dry & frizzy,& my hair just soaked it up & didnt look wet in the least.

That's with the Organix stuff though...can't speak for other brands.

My hairdresser commented on how good my hair felt earlier

Washed my hair with the Organix Moroccan Oil Shampoo and conidtioner yesterday. You're right that it is an unusual consistency! I had no trouble getting it to lather, but that's probably because we have softened water.

 

It feels soft (like it does when I use a vinegar rinse), but it also feels very silky, which it doesn't do very often. It's also attempting to shine. I suspect if I put a brush through it, the shine would show up more. (I only use a wide toothed comb on it so that it stays very curly).

 

Very happy so far, thank you for the recommendation.

The oil I used (Argania) didn't leave my hair looking at all wet. Shiny, yes, but not wet.

Had better success today - mixed a few drops of the Argania oil into my usual curling creme and left my hair to dry naturally. Very pleased with the result! The curling creme seems to have provided the hold that the oil doen't but the oil has provided the smoothing and de-frizzing effect that the curling creme doesn't. Happy bunny here (Just got to see how it stands up to today's wet and windy weather )

My hair is wavy curly and I currently use Naked stuff. However, have found a forum devoted to curly hair britishcurlies.co.uk Quite a lot to digest on there but think I'm going to investigate the methods further.

I have unfeasibly thick, curly hair. Not only is there masses of it, but each strand is like horse hair. I despair of it - if I'm not really careful, I look like Cousin Itt. OH tells me I look like Crystal Tips too, (he's older than me - I am not familiar with her). Hairdressers always say I have fantastic hair and that I'm really lucky, but that is certainly not how I see it!

 

I find these things help:

 

- only brush it just before washing it

- E45 shampoo - just a little cleans it really well, but without stripping out the oils

- Macadamia oil - works much better than serum and makes hair dry much faster than without it

- leaving it to dry naturally

- using an ionizing hair dryer if I really have to

- going to bed with wet hair, using a Buff as a hairnet

- not washing it too often

I havethick long wavy hair too.

 

I try to avoid using a hair dryer. I use Lush's Curly Wurly shampoo and Veganese conditioner. The bits of coconut do tend to get trapped in my hair though I use Body shop serum and occasionally a squirt of mousse. I wear my hair tied up for work and for cleaning out chickens etc ( hemcore in the hair is not a good look!).

 

If I plait it when wet though it takes days to dry!

Bit of a fraud here, having had my hair permed for the first time in 20 years Obviously being older, my hair is different and it's been a bit frizzy and not as shiny as it used to be, so thank you for recommending the Organix range in Boots, I got the shampoo, conditioner and serum on 3 for 2 and my hair looks fab, it's soft, shiny and the curls look really natural now

Do you know I did look at Boots Curl Creme when I went into Boots the other day, but had already decided to get argan oil, so dismissed it. But I've found that I need to mix the argan oil with something that has more hold otherwise my hair goes a bit mad! (Sorts the frizz out a treat but does nothing for the humungous volume of my hair ) So when my current curl creme runs out I might give the Boots one a whirl. You can't go wrong for £1.32, surely?!

 

I've also booked an appointment at the new salon for a dry cut on Friday. Feeling a bit anxious as it's always nerve wracking letting someone unknown take a pair of scissors to your precious locks However I did have a good chat to the salon owner, who will be cutting my hair, who agreed that the layers were all over the place as my hair had basically been cut as if it were straight. He said that the dry cut method is perfect for curly hair as he will be able to see how it falls when dry and get it even - hope he's not just talking the talk!

Has anyone else looked at britishcurlies? Loads of interesting stuff on there. I've found out my curl type, hair porosity and that plunking will be no good for me as my hairs not really long enough. That's where I also read about the Boots creme although I think I might have used it before.

I have curly hair too. I NEVER use a hairdryer or brush. I just dampen it in the morning, run my fingers through it the best I can, scrunch in some L'Oreal Studio Line Silk & Gloss Curl Power Mousse put it in a pony tail and leave it Ta Daaa!

 

Have tried all sorts of different products and have learned that naturally curly hair does not like to be controlled .

Well I had the dry cut yesterday and was really impressed. I don't think the layers of my hair have ever been cut so evenly before. In fact the hairdresser did say that he wasn't sure if my hair had previously been cut with scissors or a knife and fork as it was really, really wonky

He was super lovely too and said if I had any problems, or didn't like the cut once I got home to come straight back and tell him, and he would put it right for me, so far so good though!

I would take a photo for you, but yesterday it was blowing a gale and my hair looked awesome until I took the dog out for a walk and then I came back looking like a scarecrow, and this morning it has been squashed under a riding hat, so looks really terrible!

Well here is my review on the Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner & Boots Curl Cream

Shampoo & conditoner did not leave my hair as soft as I would have hoped or as tangle free as other shampoo and conditioners that I have used but there was I think more curl definition and no frizz so thumbs up there.

Boots Curl Cream - loved the price and am really impressed. Left me with lovely shiny ringletty curls that stay in place all day

I have been using the Organixs shampoo, conditioner and serum combo, which has been ok, not brilliant tbh. I have also invested in the Boots curl creme (£1.35 I think ) which I have to say is FAB! I will be stocking up as the BC forum mentioned it was being discontinued. You don't need a lot, it smells lovely, and my hair, for once has dried to a shiny, wavy, curly mass. A good mass, mind

Don't think it is being discontinued just that they have stock issues sometimes. I have found the BC site confusing as well and had to spend a few hours looking through to find stuff. Will post the link to hair type if I find it again.

Think I used to much of the Boots creme today as I've had a bad hair day so it's going to be trial and error to make sure I don't use too much.

I suffer from the same hair as you - no matter how short I cut it, it still remains stubbornly curly but likes to frizz with the slightest dampness! But I've learnt to love it I use boots own make hair foam, it says curly hair on the can in silver letters. Its in a pink squirty can and only costs £1. Works a treat, lovely tamed curls and ringlets which remain curly, not frizzy

I hope it does my hair is thick, curly / wavy does what it likes depending on how it feels. I've found that when its having a wavy day, a bit of the mousse makes it tend towards curlyness

coconut oil, it comes in a solid form is good i have also found johnsons leave in baby conditioner good in a green tube baby section of most supermarkets! also don't dry your hair fully leave damp possibly old trick of spraying hairbrush with hairspray then brush hair.
