redfrock
I joined Facebook a few weeks ago after much nagging by some of my nearest and dearest friends. It is a networking site. I am gradually finding I am back in touch with people that I 'mislaid' some 13 years ago! Whilst browsing the groups I noticed there was nothing to do with us proud Omlet owners. So I have created a group especially for all of us! Feel free to join... www.facebook.com group is 'Omleteers'. I didn't know what else to name it Hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes, espcially at Omlet - let me know if I am and I'll delete it straight away .... starboyhull
Sounds like a good idea to me, could even bring more business to Omlet, people spreading the word around etc etc
chocchick
I was considering doing it myself. I've been on facebook a few weeks.
kannie
Erm, I'm curious redfrock - but what do I do? The link seems to require me to register - can't I just have a look first?
redfrock
umm - I think you have to register - if I remember rightly that is why I kept holding off until my friends assured me it was ok. Claire

Snowy
umm - I think you have to register - if I remember rightly that is why I kept holding off until my friends assured me it was ok. Claire Is it OK? I was a bit worried when it asked for my email address and email password! I won't get a load more spam will I? I already get tons
starboyhull
That can be a different password if you want snowy......I usually have a different password for sites like that, than I do for my "proper" email accounts and bank etc......... Facebook has been around for a while, I think though it is worth pointing out that you should make sure that you have a limited profile, so not to show your email address and other personal details.......And also only add people who you know, that way you wont get anyone bothering you that you dont want....... Claire Is it OK? I was a bit worried when it asked for my email address and email password! I won't get a load more spam will I? I already get tons It's absolutely fine. I haven't had a single peice of spam yet. You can choose to hide information from everyone, allow just your friends to see it or allow everybody to see it. You can hide bits of info (such as year of birth) or all the info. You can hide your email address. You can omit info. You can put in random info - eg some of my friends have put in wierd home towns or random birth years such as 1920. They also have a thing in place that if you want to contact anybody you have to type in one of those random code things that stops spambots etc. Kate will probably be able to explain it better! Oh and you can always set up a second email account like i have. I have my tiscali one for standard stuff but a hotmail account for when I need to put an email address in for anything I am not sure about or don't want to fill up my normal in box
Cate in NZ
I just joined, but with a little trepidation, haven't got the time right now to really explore the site and see what's there, or to look at creating/ editing my profile. I might get back to it at the weekend Looks like a great idea though Claire
starboyhull
I own a domain "mysleepingbag.com" I can setup as many email accounts as you need if anyoe doesnt want to use their main account.......Just pm me and I will se one up for you....... All I ask is that people do keep it clear and not store loads and loads, as if people do, I run out of hard drive space on the server and then my paying customers whinge at me lol

Helly Welly
I've just joined too, but I'm not sure where the benefit is! I wonder too, after all we are all already friends aren't we? I'm just not sure what i would add to Facebook that i wouldn't do here or in the Wiki site.
redfrock
its just an additional group really because it may lead people from facebook to here and you can get back in touch with people you might have lost touch with - but like friends reunited but free and you can find other groups that may be of interest etc. Its something you need to have a play with and if you don't like it just delete your account
Guest
I wasn't complaining Redfrock, I'm just wondering how it would be different from the forum - and would I have time to do both? DD1 loves it and has made contact with her cousin in Canada and my GodSon at Oxford, people she wouldn't have been in touch with. Do I have to keep checking it to see if there are any messages or will they just pop up?

chocchick
You can send individual people messages, or write them on their wall where it is more public You can find people, e.g. my cousins I normally only hear from annually, I can now follow what they are up to You can join "groups" based on your interests, or places you worked/went to school You can share photos You can keep changing your status to share what you are doing e.g. I am off to the pub, I am playing with chickens You can share your mood with other people There are quizzes and you can share the results You can share your personal details e.g. favourite films, books, quotes.... You can create events to invite all your friends to e.g. a party only sent to certain people it keeps track of all your friend's birthdays there are addictive applications/games I have a pet elephant, 3 rabbits in a game, and aquarium, a zombies application... P.S. I searched for chicken groups and the results came up with mainly eating or doing unpleasant things to chickens so I'd be careful
craftyhunnypie
I'm not being funny, but I don't think I'm going to register. I'm quite happy popping on this forum & meeting everyone on here. Plus I'm not sure I want to dig up people from my past as I was bullied. As I keep saying, I haven't found my true friends yet in life (apart from my hubby). Fellow omleteeers come across as good friends though! So I'm sticking with seeing you all on here. Emma.x
