Solution to drying washing in a student flat!

Recommended Posts

ES has a very cold, damp bedroom in his student flat. I'm getting him thermal lined curtains (there is a pathetic, thin blind at present  ) but a friend told me that you can get a heated clothes airer from Lakeland. Who knew  ?

The reviews look good and it costs less than 3p per hour to run so I've ordered one for his Christmas :D .

Vicki, we got DD and her partner the big one as part of their Christmas present. They've had it early and she's really pleased with it :)

Re curtains, as well as thermal ones get some cheap fleeces and fasten those on behind as well. Makes a great difference.

Lakeland is fantastic -I could spend hours in there! So many things that you don't really need but that make life that bit easier! And some fantastically useful things too! 8)

And you can take stuff back at any time.

I'm sure I took something back years later that stopped working and I didn't have a receipt, but they still swapped the item for another.

I spotted this in the catalogue and thought it looks like a fantastic idea...My DD could have done with it in her year in Bordeaux when contri to the idea of a fabulous sun soaked "appartement", she was stuck on the northern corner of a concrete tower block (french stylee) which never really got the sun and had peeling paper and mould....and constantly soggy washing. Will bear in mind for DS who is now studying in Belfast...currently in the Student Village apparently heated to 80 Degrees C at all times (well that's how it seemed to me on my visit, but it's all inclusive so I'm not complaining 8) ) but next year it may well be a boone....

I bought the big one from Lakeland about a month ago, its fantastic! It is quite big and stays up in my dining room at the moment. It takes a couple of loads of washing and if I put it on in the morning then its all usually dry by the next morning. I hardly use my tumble dryer at all. I was thinking of getting one for my DD in her flat but she has a huge boiler in her hallway which seems to get everything dry.

I would definitely recommend the heated dryer. :D

this is really good to hear, it's on my list of things to get, but I decided to wait until after Christmas. Can I just ask - do they fold down fairly flat like a normal airer?

If it helps the large one comes in a box this size 56" x 31½" x 3½" - details from Lakeland site
