I went to Sainsbury's today. I bought some daffodils.

Why why why do you think they had a label on them saying "Do not eat".

Personally I have never, ever been tempted to eat a daffodil However there are some strange folk out there!!

I bought a packet of mixed nuts and fruit.... It had a warning on it "contains nuts"..... Errrr yeah, that's why it's mixed nuts and fruit

I think thats an abuse of ones personal freedom - if someone WANTS to eat daffodils then, IMHO, they should be allowed to!

Fred - your do not iron while wearing shirt reminded me of a girl a friend used to work with. She came into work with a burn mark on her neck. She was running late and decided the collar of her blouse was creased.....you can guess the rest!

Fred - I assume your label means 'Do not iron this shirt while you are wearing it' rather than 'Do not wear a shirt while you are ironing'? Although I do like the thought of it suggesting that bare-chested is the only safe way to iron!

In fairness, I don't think that's over the top, as they are actually poisonous to humans, and you can eat other flowers-eg nasturtiums.

Was in M & S today and a lady asked the assistant for a full length mirror. The assistant showed her to one in the changing rooms as they are not allowed them on the shop floor due Health and Safety.

Now, that I don't understand...as other shops have them.

It seemed particularly absurd to me too, whatever next. I know, several years ago my daughter's nursery school got marked down by Ofsted for having mirrors as they are supposedly dangerous. I think they were replaced by plastic ones.

Some dippy person might think the daffodils are spring onions that have flowered and use them in their cooking

There used to be a warning on Sainsburys bleach bottles that said "suitable for use by vegetarians"

I remember a few years ago that they were having to add a note on the side of drills to say do not scratch your head as some bright spark (it was in America) had used his drill . . . and gave himself a jolly good scratch. Can't remember if he killed himself or was badly injured. They were suing the drill company because it didn't carry a warning.

 

Can't help thinking of Gerald the Gorilla - he did eat those daffodils you know.
