sparkysmum
My lovely ys has worked so hard in his part time job and I was really delighted when he got tickets to see Avici in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow. These tickets cost a fortune, but in a sense isn't the point. When Ant and his friends got to the security barrier, he showed his ticket and....... someone snatched it out of his hands . This was in front of security staff . Since Ant was now without a ticket he was refused entry to the event even although the event staff saw it being stolen from him I phoned the police who said that since a crime had been committed, they would get him in. Of course this didn't happen and after hanging around for many hours, Ant is, I hope on his way home. In the meantime his wallet was also stolen and he has nothing left other than his rail ticket. I am so mad and sad. He is the happiest wee guy and money is tight so this is a real tragedy for him. I am cross with the police for saying they would ensure he would get in but didn't follow this up, and of course completely hacked off with the lowlife who stole his tickets and wallet. Just having a rant, please excuse. Alli xxx
Couperwife
Oh no There are some scumbags in the world aren't there. Im just glad your son wasn't hurt. Xx
Chucky Mama
That is really low Poor boy must be gutted on so many different levels. I would be furious (and heartbroken) too
surfer_chicken
Such a shame And I can't believe the staff couldn't let him in when they had already seen his ticket (but I suppose they're bound by the rules...). I hope he gets home safely and isn't too shaken up.
sparkysmum
Totally heartbroken C/M. he never asks for much and saves for everything from his part time job.He loves music, so this is huge. You are right Cathy ~ scumbags. Its the only way to describe them, although atm, I think its a tad too polite. Axx
Egluntyne
How awful. I'm so sorry. X
sparkysmum
Thanks, Egluntyne. Turns out his rail ticket was in his wallet and Sparkysdad had to collect him from Glasgow in the wee small hours. I am so sad for him. I feel I want to follow up him being let down by the police, but accept that there is really nothing to be gained from this. Ax

Eggasperated
I would suggest contacting Avici or making it public through Twitter or the newspaper, it is a possibility that he may get something from Avici as they won't like the adverse publicity and may want to make some sort of gesture to make up for it. It's really disappointing that the police didn't do something as well. I reckon it could be worth a go if your ys doesn't mind.

Cinnamon
Awful. He probably couldn't be let in because of capacity rules..health & safety & all that. Venues are bound by really strict rules on how many can be inside. Did the git who stole his ticket go in? Even if he didn't I guess they would be bound to one entry to one ticket, especially if it was sold out. My girl was mugged a couple of weeks ago. Its a horrible feeling. Lavenders_Blue
That is really awful I can't believe that your YS wasn't allowed in when security saw the ticket being snatched out of his hand. And as for the police... Well what a waste of time. I really do have a huge respect for the police, but if it wasn't possible for them to get your YS into the event then they should have just said so... Huge disappointment all round. Thank goodness he was not hurt and able to get home safely, that's one (very) small consolation.
soapdragon
Gobsmacked by the whole thing! Your poor son; what a horrible situation. Also appalled by the police - what are they there for anyway!? I agree with others who suggest Twitter etc........worth a try!? Sending hugs to your son and hoping this nasty incident doesn't shake his faith in humanity too badly; there are more lovely people out there than vile ones! kissinuk
I would also try to contact Avicii, stories like this can easily pick up a attention on Twitter. When I went to the KISS Help For Heroes show last year the were trialing a new ticket system. The only way you could get in was with your ticket PLUS the card that was used on the booking PLUS ID. It was very well organised and didn't cause any problems (other than for kids who had to bring their parents with them with the card!). If you only had the ticket you didn't get in. This also meant no ticket touts, well they were still there but we're a bit confused as to why they couldn't buy/sell tickets!
Lavenders_Blue
Avicii is easy to find on Twitter - @Avicii I'd put the link to his Twitter on here but there's one or two choice words on there... Anyway, I agree it's worth contacting him and seeing if it goes anywhere. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Kissinuk, the ticket system you mention sounds pretty foolproof. It's a shame that it has to come to that but hearing stories like sparkysmum's YS, it makes you realise that the small inconvenience of taking ID and a payment card is well worth it to stop those who are intent on ruining it for everyone else. patsylabrador
Dont all be so quick to blame the police. When you phoned you probably weren't talking to a police officer, just someone who's been trained to take calls and pass them on working in a centralised call centre. When I was a police woman calls other than 999 came directly to the local station and were picked up by a police officer. This was a job I enjoyed and because I was a trained officer I was able to give relevant advice there and then and I knew to never make false promises. I used my judgement as to when and where I sent officers. Also I had a thorough knowledge of the area where people were calling from and was able to combine my training, experience and knowledge to prioritise calls. This doesn't happen so much now and I think the old system was much better, especially for situations like your son's. In a busy city like Glasgow the police were probably dealing with murders, knife attacks, robberies, fights, ill people, car accidents, dealing with injuries from all these because the ambulance service were over stretched too. I'm not exaggerating, these things happen on a daily basis in big cities. Everybody has to wait a long time for emer services now, blame the government if you like - I don't like them! I hate the centralised call system and have always thought it was a very bad idea.
LolaLayla
So sorry to hear about this. Such a disappointment for him It makes you so angry that there are people about who feel they can take what others have worked hard for. As folks have said though thank goodness he was not injured. mollyripkim
Thats just awful, there really are some horrible people around, probably never worked for anything in their lives. I feel really sorry for your son as he obviously has a really good work ethic to get what he wants. It will stand him in good stead though to get where he wants in life. I agree with others about contacting them.
sparkysmum
Thanks for all your kindness A wee update. Ant is fine but I'm shattered Have spent the greater part of the day dealing with the police and composing an e mail to G4S the security Co who was central to Ant not getting in. Whilst I understand that rules regarding capacities etc it would appear that the employee who witnessed it all actually lied to his supervisor about what he actually witnessed. Exactly why I just don't know. Someone from the police called me this morning and it will be formally investigated. This person also said that in her opinion the police response was inadequate. Having said that I dont really want to pursue this issue ( inadequacy of police response) as I feel it will serve no useful purpose and I understand that the police probably had other pressing matters to deal with. Ant will be quite happy to raise it all via social media & I'm sure he will given time A bit of good news His wallet has been handed in to a police station close to the venue. We only know this because, when he phoned the bank to cancel his card, the bank advised him that the police had already cancelled it and it was located at * Police Station. However when he phoned the police to make arrangements to pick it up..... they wouldn't put him thro. he has to call back tomorrow. They wouldn't even confirm if they have it so frustrating. Thanks again for your knd thought Ax
Groovychook
So sorry to hear about your Son- he must have been incredibly disappointed. I hope he gets some recompense from publicising what happened. Hopefully something good will come out of it.
