As I don't (touch wood  ) have a fox problem here perhaps I'm not in a position to say, but I liked the article in Practical Poultry (think it was Sept issue) advocating a 'live and let live' attitude to foxes and chickens where they are both respected. Aside from a few people who feed them deliberately (is this any worse than feeding and therefore taming any other wild animal or bird??), the spread of foxes to urban environments is surely because of the inability of so many humans to keep their rubbish off the streets. Deer too are coming into urban environments and perhaps this is all just a repeat of the wolf coming near human habitation c 20,000 years ago so creating dogs. (See the book 'The Genius of Dogs') I find it all fascinating.
