Alis girls
Has anyone found a good one to go on? Sorry dreadful joke I have lived in London for years and despite spending a lot of money on loo seats they always seem to come loose, wobble or generally fall apart Now can't afford gold plated ones. A friend once told me that the holes in the toilet which you fit the seat too are never equal esp in London and she may have a point there.I have lived in 4 house in London and never had a comfortable seat. Do others find in other parts of UK that they dont feel stable when sitting on the bog with a good book? Thankfully my boys are of an age where they won;t fall down the loo. Grandmashazzie
We got a wooden one from John Lewis about 5 years ago.We don't have a branch here and bought it when we were on holiday! It seemed very well made compared to others we had seen in local retailers. The fittings at back do loosen over time then it's added to OH 's to do list and eventually get tightened. Angie
I have had raised toilet seats fitted to my loos...awful arthritis and back....These 4 inch plastic raised seats are the best I have ever had. No wobbles, sliding, no re-tightening nothing, a solid stable sit every time.. couldn't imagine going back to ordinary ones even if a cure is found for my arthritis. These seats are staying. Patricia W
You have to be careful when you buy them that the back to front measurement fits your loo. We have a loo that needs a seat which is 43cm front to back. The " normal" measurement in the shops is about 40-41cm. Most annoying!
Ain't Nobody Here
I bought of a couple of those soft-close ones a few years ago. They are both still pretty stable with no wobbling. The soft-close thing is great if you share a house with boys!
Cinnamon
We have just replaced one from B&Q, which was still stable, but as it was solid wood, the finish had gone on it & it just needed replacing. It lasted a good 10 years - we bought another one exactly the same. It was quite expensive though - about £40, but worth it, imho.
soapdragon
I saw one the other day that was clear plastic (acrylic?) with barbed wire embedded in it If it hadn't been a bank busting £49.99 I would have bought it for OH for Christmas
Ain't Nobody Here
I wonder if you'd hesitate every time you went to sit down or if you'd get used to it quickly!
soapdragon
Might stop him/ES spending so long in there! (Not together, I hasten to add )
Chortle Chook
Ours are wooden too from B&Q and have lasted for 10 years so far. No wobbling - not even when the dogs want a drink
