Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I've been eyeing up this holiday cottage for years but it's always been booked up for the year ahead.

 

So we decided to book it for July 2015! It's in Durness, which is about as far as you can go north in Scotland.

Some friends recently stayed in this place; they could open the door and walk right out onto the beach

Sleeps 4 - no guarantee our boys will be coming with us (they may have jobs/wives/children by then ) so there might be 2 spare beds .

Durness is beautiful - been there once overnight on my one and only trip to Scotland, but it stuck in my mind because of that beautiful sandy beach. I believe that technically it's further north than John o'Groats.

Please indulge me... I have just booked our 2014 week in Devon and am VERY EXCITED! We go to Bigbury on Sea and have done for the past 5 years...the boys love it...we are within walking distance of a fab beach and OH and I know where the supermarkets, A&E, local Drs surgery, great deli and other important facilities are!

 

Roll on 30th May!

Despite trying to be frugal, I have managed to book two holidays so far We are off to mid Wales, near Aberaeron for a week in the summer (we have a secluded beach apparently!), and North Yorkshire again later in the year, but the dales this time, near Masham. I was going to hold out for a while but both cottages appear to be very popular so I didn't think it was prudent to wait and see if any bargains are to be had. We have got them at very good rates anyway. We might pop over to Derbyshire before the summer but I will wait and see if there are any last minute deals for that one!

We are off to Mull. Staying with the same people as before (we were spoilt rotten) but for 8 days rather than a couple of days this time. Lovely people too. So far we have organised 2 walks with people who do tours - we went with them and saw otters up close last time, so this year are doing an eagle walk and a wilderness walk. Hoping to do another sea trip to catch some whales - there are always seals!!

We are going to Turkey - never been before, but my sister raves about the town of Kalkan, so that is where we are headed.

We looked on Trip Advisor & found that the top rated place to stay is really reasonable, with a great quirky hippy vibe

Now that Merry is a little older I'm venturing off to Cornwall for a week with her http://www.stylishcornishcottages.co.uk/snugglers-den/4573540649 here in early May, possibly with OH if he's free or on my own if not. It'll be fine either way, because it's next door to my mums house

 

Just got back this weekend from a couple of weeks in Sri Lanka....beautiful beautiful country, still almost completely untouristified, well worth a visit especially in the next few years before the real development starts.

We just booked our holiday, we are cruising from Venice this year going to Athens, Istanbul as well as other parts of Italy, Greece and Turkey. Gives us something to look forward to! MIL booked to hen, dog, cat, gerbil, fish n house sit. I still think back to last years holiday to Russia with great big smile - it was soooo hot and sunny there!

As previously posted, we recently booked our annual week in Bigbury on Sea....at the same accomodation we were at the year before last. We were all sooooo excited to be returning to our favourite place BUT OH found out on Friday last that his current job will cease to exist as of 31st Jan.

 

Don't know what will happen now, if we will be able to go or not as, if we cancel too late, we will lose the deposit of £140.00
