patsylabrador
I got on the scales this morning for the first time in ages and was delighted to read that I've lost nearly a stone. Considering some of my new weight is my lovely newly developed muscles, that is a good amount of horrid fat gone from me. It's so encouraging and makes all the effort worthwhile. Ain't Nobody Here
Wow, that's brilliant . I just can't stop eating at the moment . Hate to think what weight I'd be if I wasn't running & doing a couple of step classes a week . I think I need hypnotherapy .
The Dogmother
That's great news Jude No scales, but things feel looser clothes-wise, and tighter muscle-wise here. I missed doing a body pump class on Wednesday, and there's no circuit training tomorrow as it's a Bank Holiday, so I went to Body Blitz this morning... a new one on me, good workout, but didn't enjoy the style or format. Now the summer months are here, I get a half hour walk with the dogs in the morning, then a good hour every evening after work, usually somewhere hilly. The Dogmother
Well done Jude, that's great I missed Body Pump on Wednesday, and there's no circuit training tomorrow as it's a bank holiday. so I went to Body Blitz this morning - new class for me; good workout, but I didn't enjoy the style or format much. Now that the light evenings are here, I get the usual half hour dog walk in the morning before work, then a good hour afterwards, which is usually pretty hilly. Clothes feel looser and muscles feel tighter.
Ain't Nobody Here
Started the Juneathon challenge today. Blimming freezing this morning . You'd never know it's June .
The Dogmother
I may be on holiday, but I spent an hour in the lovely gym yesterday morning; running there and back. Going to try a kettlercise class this afternoon if I remember. I hate to mention it, but it's about 22deg in the sun here but with a cool breeze
Ain't Nobody Here
Please don't mention it again . I wore a hat and gloves for this morning's run .
Lewis
It was 27oC here today, meant to be 31 tomorrow
The Dogmother
Did kettlercise yesterday, a bit hot even under a huge awning, the instructor knows the moves, but wasn't maintaining a tempo, still a good workout though. Is duller here today, so I will play volleyball on the beach.
Ain't Nobody Here
Thanks, Lewis . Only chilly rather than freezing this morning and no hat and gloves required .
Space Chick
I've had to take a week off my triathlon training as I have shingles Never mind, hopefully I'll be back next week. I too have lost a stone and feel fabulous for it.
The Dogmother
Sorry to hear that Debs, can't shingles go on for some time? Hope you're through it soon.
Space Chick
I got onto anti virals the day the rash came out. Have been told to rest for a week and I can't swim until the rash has subsided. But I reckon I can cycle by the weekend
patsylabrador
I was interested in Mr Wiggins indoor cycling record. 54km in an hour. I gave it a go on my exercise bike. I whacked up the resistance to make it harder and by the time the monitor read 54km it was 85 minutes. I think something is wrong there. Admittedly I have no real friction to fight, no slope and no corners and I was pedalling like fury but that is unrealistic for a middle aged woman. It was fun to have a challenge though and now I have a new set of figures to chase. I will see how long it takes me to pedal 50km on my particular monitor which I don't altogether trust and work to reduce that. I was starving at the end but didn't know the correct things to eat at that point so any ideas about that would be great.
Space Chick
Bradley Wiggins was inspirational wasn't he! When you think 54km is around 33mph that is a phenomenal speed to keep doing for a whole hour!! Gosh, I have NEVER even got up to 33mph on my bike, even downhill I'm doing a 5k run tonight with a local running club. Haven't quite got to the end of C25K yet, but should still be a good challenge! The Dogmother
Have you tried Park Runs Debs? You'd have to look them up, but they have regular Saturday 5km runs all over the country in parks.
Space Chick
The nearest one to me is over half an hour away. However, the running club that's doing the run tonight is trying to sort one out for a country park which my house backs onto!! That'll be good
Space Chick
Well I did it. Stupidly slowly and my heart rate was in peak for all bar one minute, but I did it! 5k now has a big mental tick against it!

The Dogmother
Now you've got a goal to beat that time You might remember that I did the race for life for 10 years in memory of a good friend; I was always a sprinter at school, so 5km was a new distance for me. I stupidly went hell for leather and was sick at the end
Valkyrie
And now I've started Nordic walking - went for my first intro session this morning and I'm amazed at how good I felt. Still need lots of practice, so I'm joining the big group tomorrow morning. Instructor lives a couple of minutes away from where DS works, so I drop him off and then go to her house and she's taking me to Frensham Little Pond. Really looking forward to it. Ain't Nobody Here
Finished the Juneathon (over a week ago, obviously) and was pleased to beat my goal of 100 miles, having managed 122 miles and 15,318ft of ascent. Had a few days off before going up to Durness on holiday but have managed 3 short-ish exploring runs this week. Stunning scenery .
