Groovychook
Continues from The Weather Thread #7 Had a very windy & wet night and it's a bit of a grim start to the new year this morning. Very windy with heavy rain first thing and mild- 12 deg. Still blustery and chucking it down... it's very squelchy underfoot. Hope we get a crisp spell of weather- I could do with a few bracing walks!
Purplemaniacs
Wet, windy and miserable here. I think it is quite mild but the general gloom makes it feel cold. We have turned the heating back on but we do have DD and her three girls and we can't let little one get cold Chrissie
Alis girls
Wet wet wet here. fed up want to do a walk but got soaked yesterday and frankly fed up of feeling chilly and damp. Poor chckens up to their knees in mud. I only did run out a week ago.
chickencam
It is grim here too, very windy and wet, but my two teens have gone out, one to the cinema and one shopping, I think they are mad. 20 year old and OH are sitting with me by a roaring stove. The Dogmother
Vile here too - the Cherwell is flooded and the rain continues. Got caught in a hail storm yesterday whilst walking the dogs.
Egluntyne
Horrid here. Grey and rain lashing down all day long. Went for a New Years Day walk and made the best of it.

The Dogmother
Mild last night, but had to get up and shut the bedroom window and the rain was lashing against it. 5deg this morning, dry and clear... so far.
chickencam
Truly vile here yesterday, I managed to grab five minutes to feed and water the chickens, who are wading at the moment, it stopped briefly in the early evening then came back heavily around midnight. Sunny, clear and 7 degrees here at the moment.
Purplemaniacs
The sun is shining at the moment I went out to the chooks this morning and both the eglu run and the WIR is very wet and muddy poor chooks. Chrissie
The Dogmother
It was lovely here yesterday - bright and sunny, almost warm at times. The weather deteriorated over night, when I was woken by gales and thrashing rain; it has since cleared a bit but the skies are darkening, the wind is getting up again, and the storm is on its way The water table is very high now, we have the flood sluices open on the lakes at work, and the springs are bubbling up from the ground already. Patricia W
Just had a violent thunderstorm here. Torrential rain with hailstones. Chickens not impressed!
chickencam
We had heavy rain and lashing wind overnight, it calmed down for a couple of hours this morning, but we have had some heavy downpours since, and the wind is really strong again, cold too. chickencam
Steady rain and strong winds here, quite chilly too. We are about to hit the M5 to take ED back to Bristol, hoping up won't be too bad, but there will be lots of spray around.
The Dogmother
How did it go Liz? Very windy here last night, must have been raining hard all night (was when I got up at 2am), judging by the amount of surface water around. The Cherwell has breached its banks, but daft folks are still using the lower car parks beside it - in past years these have flooded very quickly and cars have been swamped I drove into Stratford upon Avon this morning to meet Lesley, and there is an unbelievable amount of surface water and flooding, on the roads and surrounding fields. A couple of roads near us have been closed and I drove through some very bad flooding.
chickencam
It was horrible on the way down, and there is a lot of flooding on the roads between us and the motorway. Better on the way back but still loads of spray. It is cold and clear here now, feels like it will freeze tonight.
The Dogmother
It is cold and clear here now, feels like it will freeze tonight. With the amount of wet we have, that could be very dangerous. Rosie is due to race tomorrow morning (Cross-Country) we are waiting for a decision in the morning, but it will probably go ahead as they are 'hard sorts' who love a bit of mud. Groovychook
Just come back from a couple of days visiting relatives in Cheltenham. Thankfully no flood damage whilst we were away, phew! We came back early in view of the weather reports for tomorrow - hoping that it won't be as bad as expected
Alis girls
Wet here and going colder. managed a quick clean of hen houses before a heavy shower. The run has its own water feature. I do wonder why I bother.
The Dogmother
I am going to leave mine until tomorrow - the weather can't possibly be worse than it was today....? Despite a tarp and a 'porch' of clear corrugated plastic, the rain has got in, so I'll shovel out the wet Aubiose and replace it.
The Dogmother
Wet and blowy again last night, clear and sunny this morning, now alternating between gales and rain, and sunshine At least it's not too cold.
