mullethunter
When I first got my Pekins I wasn't sure how old they were, and I found it really difficult to find pictures of others with definite ages put to them. So I thought I'd start a topic where omleteers can post pics of their young'uns as they grow up in case others have the same questions I did (any excuse to look at picture of little cheepers!). Here are my Pekins from 10 weeks to 14... 10 Weeks (Shelly and Bernadette) 11 weeks (Shelly and Bernadette) 14 weeks (Shelly and Bernadette) Shelly at 14 weeks Also, does anyone have any photo's of a Cream Legbar next to a Pekin or a Wyandotte bantam -I'm interested to see how big they are in comparison. mullethunter
4 weeks further on, time to show off my little cheepers (who aren't cheering any more!) again. Now at 18 weeks. Bernie and Shelley at 18 weeks Treat time!
Chickabee
Beautiful. I will soon be able to show you a legbar with a pekin frizzle. They're not even 2 weeks yet, but they'll be bigger than her soon

Claireabella
Awww, they are adorable I'd love a silver laced wyandotte
mullethunter
We're at 24 weeks now. Bernadette has got quite a comb now - it even wobbles when she shakes her head! She hasn't laid yet but does crouch. Compared to Bernie Shelley seems to be maturing much more slowly. She's the same size, or possibly slightly bigger, but much smaller and lighter head gear and doesn't crouch.
miller30
You should have eggs very soon leanne
PixieDust
This is a lovely thread. They are adorable. I initially wanted Pekins but I was persueded to start with hybrids. Beautiful plumage
mullethunter
I hope you're right Leanne - that'd be very exciting! PixieDust I didn't want Pekins but accidentally got these two when I went to collect the Wyandottes
Chickabee
Here's my pekin frizzle with her 7 week old chicks. She a bit smaller than a normal pekin, but you can still get some idea of what the size difference will be like
mullethunter
Thanks Chickabee that's interesting to see. I guess they've got a fair bit of growing to do yet though. Leanne - you were right! Bernadette laid her first egg on Sunday Whilst I'm out of the country:-(

jesschicken24
They look very similar to mine, so tiny in the egg boxes. I like to weigh my eggs so I can see how big they are getting.
Egghead68
They are so beautiful. Where did you get them?
jeshen
They are beautiful, mullethunter, and well done Bernadette for starting to lay this late in the year! I thought my pekins had all stopped for the winter, but have just returned from London to be told there were 4 eggs over the w/e! Maybe it's the Indian summer we're having? Scrambled eggs for us for supper tonight!
mullethunter
Where did you get them? The Pekins?
mullethunter
3 eggs today for the first time! And the small one doesn't look like Bernie's so I think it must be Shelleys first egg
redsunset
They are absolutely beautiful! I love the millifleur one, lovely feathers! Is there any bantam kind with those markings but without the feathered feet? I only ask as its been one muddy winter and would hesitate again to get any feathered feet, tho the two big brahmas are fine? And you have grass! mullethunter
In the pictures with the grass the girls had only been here a month - it's special brown, bare grass now
Luvachicken
So glad you have managed to fill a box with eggs
redsunset
Grass same as mine then? Nice chocolate brown colour.....in large swathes! Och, I'd hoped you had a cure/magic formula for me!
mullethunter
Yes that's the stuff redsunset - no magic formula I'm afraid. Had a definite Bernadette egg this morning so I know that now, for the first time ever, all four girls are in lay. And in case anyone with Pekins ever reads this wanting to know what age their POL is, Bernies was 24 weeks and Shelleys was 51! That's it. The 'Growing Up' thread is complete.
