Valkyrie
Well a couple of nights ago we all ended up in the kitchen in the evening and doing our own things - OH was talking to DD and I was popping things in the dishwasher - he hopefully was making a cup of whatever for us. I look on the worktop and there was the tv remote control - he'd been carrying it around with him and just put it down to fill the kettle! I turned round and called him Gollum. I don't think I have anything quite like that to warrant me carrying it around in case someone dared to change channels while he was away from the tv, and in any case there wasn't anybody in the living room to even attempt it!!! I do have my preciousssssy things but they tend to be around my armchair - which is now my Father Jack's corner - messy as anything. Um, no drink and no girls. Swearing . . . of course not, ever! Well not that often - it's a bit milder nowadays as I'm obviously so much more refined.

Willow
My phone It's my email and my watch all rolled into one and I can't get out of the habit of being on 24x7 escalation callout. I'm sure the rest of the family would love me to leave it behind
Olly
My iPhone. As above - communication centre, calendar, watch, diary, notebook - it's rarely out of reach. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit it - I sometimes wish I didn't spend so much time on it.
Valkyrie
I can understand entirely. I suppose my mobile is most handy with all my apps and contacts but I think I'd probably lost without my car. I don't use it if I can walk to anything but if it wasn't there I would lose my freedom to more distant places. All very well to have food shopping delivered - I loathe shopping in all forms (I don't count patchwork things shopping - that's fun) but I like to wander round the aisles and then it's nice when someone chats and has a laugh. And all the plants I can fit in the boot - and chicken stuff like aubiose - I can squeeze an awful lot in my Jazz! And the car stays outside because I can't lift it onto the kitchen worktop. patsylabrador
Definitely my kindle. I have it all organised just as I want it, various books 'open' on certain pages. Folders just as I want them. It feels like my very private place to be. I think I get that crazed Bilbo face if it gets picked up. I feel quite uncomfortable if I recommend a book and someone says they'll read it on my kindle so I go very quiet about it.
Cinnamon
My phone - it is in my pocket ALWAYS. Its so handy to whip it out & add things I need to my ongoing shopping list, & to add things to my Google calendar, like if I fancy something particular to eat on a certain day (lots of thick meaty stews on my meals tab at the moment!) It is my lifeline, my contact with my daughters, my camera, my organiser & my activity centre when I am bored (Scrabble/Kindle/Angry Birds). I love my phone. Valkyrie
I think I get that crazed Bilbo face if it gets picked up. Patsylabrador Baggins! Oh dear! Just thinking after all these answers - technology has come such a long way now - so much info at the touch of a button on a very small contraption. I remember helping my grandmother wash clothes in the sink and we'd wring them out - oh the joy of a tumble drier - especially when we have long sessions of wet over winter and it stops the wallpaper peeling away from where the clothes are draped over the radiators. I dread if anything goes wrong and we lose the lot!!! Quite spoilt we are really.
soapdragon
My ES!!! You know how, when you are pregnant, you tend to give the baby odd names like Bean, Nugget etc....well, ES was Gollum!!!! OH saw a pic in a pregnancy book and immediatley named 'the bump' Has proved accurate on occasions tho; due to his Asperger's I do really struggle with him from time to time. YS was Dobby (as in Dobby the House Elf) and he is equally precious!!!!

The Dogmother
Errrrr...... Peace and quiet As for a 'thing', not sure really as I'm not very materialistic, but probably my lovely shower - makes me feel good. Definitely NOT my mobile phone - it's useful, but I can't wait to turn it off when I get in of an evening.

The Dogmother
My bed It's big and comfy and every night I am pleased to see it In fact, that's one of mine too Debs - a friend owns a laundry business and gives me half price laundering or dry cleaning, so my one luxury is to get my bed linen laundered and starched - it is all white cotton, and the king-sized duvet cover is a pig to iron. I just love crisp sheets
Valkyrie
Must admit I love fresh crispy sheets! As for scissors, some little ratbag used my sewing scissors for trimming the barbs of one of my cactus plants many, many moons ago. I was not impressed either! Lewis
Definitely my iPhone - especially as I'm living in eastern Europe! It serves as communication with friends, family and the rest of the world with WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter. I have a dictionary app which is useful for translation, especially when food shopping and in restaurants. It's also nice to be able to take and share photos and blog posts from my pocket when I'm on the go

redhotchick
I am rarely far away from my ipad when I am not in work! It is actually called "My precious" LOL! My "What have you got in your pocketssess" item at the moment is a beautiful shiny conker. I picked up in Pere Lachaise cemetery recently. Every time I put my hand in my pocket I love the feel of it, and it reminds me of a lovely recent weekend away.
