Just seen Chickabee's shower caddy (brilliant idea!) and wondered if photos of all your different hentertainment ideas could be posted, if this hasn't been done already (probably has but I haven't come across it!). Chickabee's pic had some interesting-looking grey pipes in the background too, not sure what they'll all about...

Bird fat ball feeder with greens stuffed in it:

A film of my girls attacking a brussels tree hanging from string but I also hang broccoli heads just above head height so they have to work for it by jumping. Keeps them amused for hours:

This pic shows a treat ball. Fill it with mealworms or pellets and watch your girls learn to play football:

And finally if your girls are in a fixed run and don't or rarely get out to free range, turf. However, this makes their feet very muddy and is stripped in a day:

I also have other wild bird feeders, (fat block type square ones and a tear drop ish shaped one), which greens or even sprouting seeds can be put in.

I am sure others have some really brilliant ideas.

Great ideas pixie dust. Might have to pinch them :D I've got lots of old bird feeders around the place. The birds just eat the chicken food anyway.

I bought a bale of straw the other day. Half was for my exbats, who have an outside run. The other half I put in the enclosed run. The girls love it after a while it will flatten down and compress and you can put it on the garden.

Sometimes I buy live mealworms from Amazon. This is a really fun past time too x

Brilliant! Thanks Pixiedust. The reason I gave up on sprouting was that because the sprouted stuff was too light it lifted up when the girls tried to peck off the shoots and they lost interest. Putting the whole thing in one of those feeders for a slab of fat block would solve that. Will get one and sprout again for a post worming week treat (worming week finishes on Sat - been horrible - I feel so mean!)

Here a bit of my Hentertainment!

I removed some of the apple peel as my ladies don't eat that and they need a start on the apple. I hang anything in the run from strings or binding wire. (binding wire is easier because you can just poke it through the apple/broccoli etc)

Make sure it swings a bit and they will have quite a job eating it!

Hmm maybe it's time I got the wild bird feeder hitched up again with an apple or somesuch in the middle - it has a wire and untouched as the wild birds never liked it. When we had our original orpies we let them grub around the veggie patch and then we let them finish off the old sprouts - which they loved. When I bought a nice organic stick of sprouts and only Apache remained with the newbies they hated it. Never touched it and I had to throw the remains away. They also used to love broccoli especially with the stems cut in quarters. Again don't like that. Spring greens eaten with great gusto - left to go yellow unless I pick up the wilted remains quicker. Usually they like whatever slug thing has taken refuge in the green stuff and they kick it all round the garden. Give them fresh greens they say. I do but they are fussy ratbags! I say to them "you ungrateful monkeys - harder where there's none. I bet exbats would appreciate what you have!" I swear they look at me with a view to blowing raspberries in my direction. Well they would if they could.

I really loved seeing that video with the sprouts. All looks lovely.
