patsylabrador
I love getting out Winter boots and coats and putting on big chunky jumpers and wearing gloves and scarves. I'm wearing a chunky jumper right now, in truth I'm feeling a bit over-heated but I will persevere until I faint.
chickencam
I spent my first day in a long sleeved tee shirt and a light jumper yesterday and it was lovely I also wore my new winter coat for the first time on Tuesday, I bought it in a sale in June it is so snuggly
Olly
I love autumn! Boots, scarves, snuggly jumpers and lighting the woodburner. I've just got a new-to-me winter coat and my Slanket is on the sofa .... if I'm honest, some of the above measures are necessary because my central heating is rubbish, but I enjoy them anyway! Daphne
Ah yes, tis deffo the season for the big jumper I bought one at the weekend from a shop up a mountain which sells all sorts of woolly goods and sheep's milk cheese.....the good news is a friend saw me in it when I was trying it on and thought it was already mine as it suited me so well (believe me that doesn't happen very often!); the bad news is I got it home to discover its only 50% wool I am starting to wear layers and am in desperate need of more long sleeved tops to trap the warm air under my big jumper. I have a mix of cheap cotton tops and some cycling/skiing base layers. But its not unknown for me to have 4 or 5 layers on in Portugal, we have no central heating My mother is on a one woman mission to get me to buy a new winter coat.....I think she thinks I am letting the side down in my old (very old) one
soapdragon
And duvets too! The 14 tog is coming down form the loft tomorrow and I will be off to the launderette some time next week to get it washed and dried so that we can put it on the bed next weekend. That always feels like a 'rite of passage' into winter!
Grandmashazzie
I too have the big jumper on also just lit the wood burner so now melting. I took my average ie cheap duvets to the launderette and it was £12 to wash one. Cheaper to replace in sale. I do have an expensive one which is cheaper to wash. Pity I can't force them in my machine no matter how hard I try.
Blackrocksrock
My thermostat must be rubbish as I am still in a short sleeved t shirt - was out today in it and a thin waterproof as it was raining and 10 degrees and I did not feel cold!! I long to be able to wear a thick jumper.
chickencam
We had a lovely warm morning and early afternoon but it was raining by 4:30 pm. I had to carry my big coat but was glad of it later on
soapdragon
Grandmashazzie...I go to the local launderette with two big machines as well as the ususal sized one. It costs me £6.70 to put a winter weight one in the wash and £5.60 for a summer weight in the smaller machine. The dryer is 20p per 5 mins so dryish in about 15 mins and we air it at home....did you mean having yours cleaned rather than wash it yourself? £12 sounds very expensive
Grandmashazzie
Yes OH left it at launderette, it is just ordinary polyester. When he came back and said it was £12 I nearly fainted.
Cat tails
If you dump it in water before stuffing it in the machine, it will take less space and might fit.
