chickenlover
I went back to the docters for my ears today and saw a different docter, i had to take my mum with me because i couldnt hear but this docter was awfully rude and didnt seem to care when he was yanking my ears around until i cried He did put me on stronger antibiotics and painkillers but was just really rude and arrogant, if i didnt feel so bad i think i would have given him a peice of my mind, infact i might just make a complaint about him He said that i needed to make another appointment for next week so they could check the tablets were working, i asked the reseptionist if i could see someone else, she didnt seem shocked that i had requested this, and it makes me wonder just how many people he is rude to everyday, there are at least 4 other docters at my surgery and i will make a point of never seeing him again
The Dogmother
Make sure that you complain Hon, otherwise he will continue treating his patients like that. I'm sure it's not the one I used to see in B/Wood - he'd be retired by now! How very dare he!!!!! have a cuppa and keep your ears warm. Egluntyne
You should complain There is no need for rudeness.
susanbb
Please do complain. I'm sure if you go back to your surgery they will let you know about their Complaints Procedure. "Ooops, word censored!"ody, no matter what their qualifications, has the right to be rude to anyone.
feemcg
I've worked with dozens of rude and arrogant doctors - what is it about that particular profession that makes them behave like that - and think it's acceptable?
chickenlover
it just really upset me, there is one other male docter there and he is lovely, its like you are going to see your really cool uncle when you go and see him, if the kids get sick i always make sure its him they talk to because hes so nice and reassuring, even if we are in town and see him he always makes a point to stop and say hello, how can you get to total opposites working next door to each other? its such a shame him being like that, if i had taken one of my children to see him and he had been like that i would have probally ended up being escorted out of the building
Couperman
I went back to the docters for my ears today and saw a different docter, I read that and thought you had left them behind! Sorry There is no excuse for Doctors to be rude and inconsiderate, some forget why they did medicine in the first place, complain, strongly it's not on to be treated like that. Kev. little chickadee
I had a doctor I couldn't stand when I was in Birmingham - he basically thought I was a skiving cow because of my M.E but I think he was rude to everyone. There was a doctor with me at the birth of my son with a very similar name and I shouted that he could get right out of my delivery room because he was etc etc. I think the gas and air gave me courage!!!! The midwife with me knew the horrid doctor in question and very unproffesionally (but brilliantly) agreed with me about him!!!!
Omletina Kyckling
I can't bear my doctor. He's so condescending. I have arthritis in my hands even though I'm only in my 30s (just!!) and can't work - when I went to see him, he was awful, he kept saying "so you really think you can't work then?" as if i were a real skiver (I've worked all my life!) - in the end I said "If you can find me a job that doesn't use my hands, then perhaps I could work, but I'm stumped to think of one....." - when I got referred to the DSS doctor she asked why I'd come as my type of psoriatic arthritis means I'm signed off for two years automatically with no sick notes needed - at least that means I don't need to see him. The other awful thing is that this same doctor 'phoned me at home one night asking if I was interested in some scheme which involved selling a tablet that you put in your fuel tank to get better fuel economy - it was basically pyramid selling with him at the top I assume. It made me feel very uncomfortable to say no to him so I avoid going to the doctors at all now unless I have to. Doctors aren't what they used to be!! chickenlover
surely docters arnt allowed to do that , and phoning you at home about stuff like that is going against your personal privacy

Roxanne
.... but was just really rude and arrogant, if i didnt feel so bad i think i would have given him a peice of my mind, infact i might just make a complaint about him Do complain about the treatment you received - ask to see the practice manager and explain what happened. They have to bring these complaints up at the practice meetings and do something about it. Is the doctor you are complaining about a senior in the practice (is his name on the board at the surgery?). I used to be a mediator for complaints at Brent and Harrow Health Authority and deal with these problems all the time. Half the time the doctors don't even realise they are so off-hand a a gentle reminder that we only see them when we are unwell helps! He has completely abused his position by contacting you about something unrelated to your condition, it is unethical and illegal! Please do ring his practice manager and ask what they intend to do about it. What he has done is a disciplinary matter at the least. And you should NEVER have to feel uncomfortable about seeing any doctor. xx
Jules.
I saw a lovely Dr today to get a sick note for the next 2 weeks. He was very concerned to ask me how I was feeling about things, & was interested in my response. He is the only Dr I want to see out of the 3 at our practise. chelsea
I dread going to the Doctor's more than anything (even more than the dentist). I had a real idiot for a doctor, he was a bloke, very airy fairy, not duly concerned with any of my conditions, quite aloof. I had been seeing him for years and after another bout of septacaemia this year I decided to switch to a lovely woman doctor. I feel much more at ease, she's really nice and genuinely concerned/caring and she even remembers me when I visit her the following week (my old doctor never remembered me!). Its really easy to change doctors, dont put up with a doctor you dont like or feel uncomfortable with. You should definitely complain about him. I find a lot of the time aswell the receptionists are rather rude at my surgery also - there is no need for it - you are ringing the doctors because you dont feel well - so being spoke to nastily doesnt help either. bronze
Definitely request to change doctors. I went to see my old doctor when I was 11 weeks pregnant. I didn't have any specific symptons but I knew something wasn't right and told her so. Her reply was that 11 weeks is generally the worst kind of time. A couple of days later I started bleeding heavily and after lots more stuff my daughter was born 3 months earlier. Whenever I pass her in the surgery now she looks highly embarrassed as if she knows she let me down. (I wont even talk about the mw at NNUH)
