Janty
We love a party at our house. We always have a Halloween party and we have plans for a prohibition party where we serve alcohol out of tea pots, carry empty violin cases and shoot each other with splurge guns in the garden. For Christmas we are hoping to have and Elf Party where everybody has to dress up as an 'elf'. This could be as simple as wearing a white coat and calling yourself 'elf service' or you could come with a clip board and be called 'elf and safety'. Has anybody got any good ideas for a party theme?
Karen & co.
We used to do lots of themed dressing up parties We did Nursery rhyme characters, Top of The Pops. Christmas (in June ) and many others in fact I still have some of the costumes karen x
BeckyBoo
Not exactly a theme, but we're having a black tie event the Sunday before Christmas in our front room! It was just going to be a few drinks but then I got a posh dress and just had to have an excuse to wear it!! Mrs Bertie

Tessa the Duchess
We used to have themed parties. We had a 'bad taste' party, a 'surrealists' party and a 'vampire' party. Once we booked a private room in a restaurant and had a tarts and vicars party, afterwards we all went to a club, got thrown out at some point I don't remember much about the circumstances I do however remember the hangover next day Tessa

It always gave me such a headache anyway ...even a small amount. Not worth the bother.
Richard
Has anybody got any good ideas for a party theme? Can we go back to the dinner party thread? I'd have an 'everybody stays at home' themed party. Then "Ooops, word censored!"ody would come. wonderful
Cate in NZ
I'm a real bore and I know it, but I honestly don't like themed parties . We've been invited to a 70's party on NYE by some friends, and quite honestly I think I'd rather stay at home than have to go out and find/ buy 70s type outfits that I will never, ever wear again . They are good friends though, and I really can't come up with a good enough excuse to cry off, so we're going to have to accept and bite the bullet. I hated 70s fashion first time round (when I was young enough to get away with flared jeans, smelly Afghans, hot pants, platform shoes and tank tops) I really never envisaged myself voluntarily dressing up in all that gear again
theherd123
I can remember going to a 60's theme party with all my male housemates when i was a student. It was a scream! I wore a very short skirt, knee high boots and a paisley shirt with some pink star shaped glasses - i sight to behold.

There is a photo of The Hubby in a lucious swirly 70's shirt & star glasses floating around the forum somewhere. Maybe I am getting more antisocial as I get older, but I really don't like going out to parties any more, & would never go to a themed one again

xScrunchee
I don't like parties or anything noisey and crowded I used to when I was younger but now I would much rather stay in and watch TV in my PJ's!! Not into eating out, pubs, clubs or bars. Don't go on holiday as I would miss the pets too much I enjoy days out such as the Zoo or museums but other than that I am very boring and like to be in my own home with my children and animals. Cate in NZ
What we should do is have a themed "pyjama party". All Omleteers, armed with their own glass of wine (or whatever your tipple is ), wearing PJs and logged on to their own computers. Party, party, no unwanted noise, so problems finding an outfit that fits and is comfortable, and great company No one complain about bad taste music or burnt canapes.............we could even invite Richard
Snowy
Great idea - but it should be PJs, wellies and anorak! Real omlet uniform

xScrunchee
What about PJ's? If I do not have to go out all day I stay in my PJ's. In the evening I will have a bath and put clean PJ's on. I clean the girls out, let them out etc whilst wearing PJ's, crocs and a coat. Am I just lazy or does anyone else do this too?? I like being comfy and my PJ's are just that!! Fabergé
Sorry to spoil your non-party party but I love parties. I like the buzz of getting ready, being with my friends, catching up if we haven't been together for a while, making idiots of ourselves if we've had one (or three) too many, dancing to corny music. Even better if it's at my house, then I don't have to worry about driving & can fall into bed probably without taking my make up off & having panda eyes in the morning! I like murder/mystery parties too where each person has a character to play (usually badly!) & I never guess correctly whodunnit. Get up out of your rocking chairs you lot. I'm at the age when I should know better but I'll still be dancing in my zimmer frame. Gloria

Lots of people with baguettes tied to their heads one guy had a bowler hat on and for some surreal reason he brought a ladder with him Creme brulee would be lovely party food.
