craftyhunnypie
Are we the only mad ones that go off in our caravan all year round? We are going shortly off until just after New Year! We are quite excited! Not going very far at all, but it's a nice break & near a pub! My sister in law & her fella are going too & 2 other couples. We shouls have a good time. So if I don't get chance to pop on the forum on my gadget. Have a Wonderful start to 2008! Emma.x
Karen & co.
Have a fantastic time We used to go as a family when I lived at home, and I can remember chipping ice off the pipes so that the water could flow karen x
Guest
Have a great time - my parents often spend Hogmany in their caravan, away in the wilds, wherever they can find a site open! In fact, now they are retired, they spend more time in the caravan than they do in their house - they've even booked a site close to the hospital for when the baby comes, so they can be close by! Guest
Your brave going in this weather - it was blowing a gale last night. I'm afraid I'm with Jeremy Clarkson on caravans.... Mum takes DS to a Haven caravan every year for a few days. Last year they had a luxury one and she is still raving about it. Mind you even a tiny tow along one has to be more spacious than the room we had on the QE2 last summer!

chelsea
We go away all weathers in our caravan, I prefer Autumn and winter caravanning as there are less people! We even went to Dartmoor and ended up in 100mph winds December last year (I really thought we were going to blow away like Dorothy in the wizard of oz !! ) Have a great time, you can snuggle up lovely in the caravan if it gets cold - they are suprisingly cosy
feemcg
I'm very - we sold our tourer and bought a lovely static - it was supposed to be on the pitch for New Year but the chap has run into some problems (he's been clearing a huge part of his hillside garden for the new pitches). So, it's not happening now . Hope you have a fab time
Cate in NZ
Have a great time . If it's cold you can always snuggle up and keep warm, and at least you don't get wet in a caravan when it's raining...............unlike tents . I'm not a fan of tents in any weather, but I've had some great holidays in caravans in the past
CP1
Caravanning in the autumn/winter is brilliant; quiet, isolated and very cosy. Have a lovely snuggly time
Richard
Are we the only mad ones that go off in our caravan all year round? Emma.x You are probably not the only ones. and therefore, by fairly straightforward logic, you are not the only mad ones - since anyone who goes off in a caravan at this time of year is necessarily mad. Actually I'm quite envious. I used to do the Polaris MTB orienteering events, one of which was a winter weekend - carrying all your camping gear with you on your bike. I had some brilliant weekends camping in my lightweight tent out on the hills in the winter time. But her indoors isn't at all keen, to put it mildly. So I don't go now, and the limit of my winter forays is the Boxing Day golf competition. Sad really.
craftyhunnypie
Hi everyone & Happy New Year!!! Well we had a great time - one couple chickened out - so there was me & hubby, sister in law & her fella & another couple. 6 in all & Charlie the yorkshire terrier! Saturday night - we all piled into SIL's awning, complete with halogen heaters & had chilli with trifle afterwards & lots of booze. We also had a music quiz - good fun rounded off with Tia Maria Coffees! Mmmm Sunday, we went into Wrexham - for some foodie bits, more plonk & a look round the shops. Got some mock croc wellies - lime green for £4 from priceless shoes - bargain! Sunday night - we went the pub, then back in the awning & had a barbeque - corn cobs, Homemade kebabs & curly chips. Followed by loads of booze & a game of Pictionary.....extremely funny as we drew things that are unrepeatable on here!!!! Tia MAria coffees again - bed at 3.30am again! Monday - lazy day - popped to Nantwich, lunch in Chatwins. Monday night - Champagne in the awning first - pub for hot buffet, then into the party barn for the party! Boy what a party! We were all legless! We had fireworks & more champagne. Bed at 4.00am!!!! New years day - lazy morning - then dinner in the pub, followed by another boozing session & a disscussion that lasted hours about interesting things for sale in the mens toilets!!!! Of course us women wanted to know more! Went in the awning later to play pictionary again, still talking about the things for sale in the gents loo - from 3pm until gone 11pm!!! So us women scratted together enough money and walked to the pub. I was on guard, SIL at the gents loo door and Evie purchasing - kerchunk , kerchunk - all the change going in the machine. We couldn't walk back to the awning for howling with laughter! So then the fun began, we had this buzzy thing, racing along the caravan table, stirring up our drinks, massaging our feet, worn as an earring. The best £6 we had ever spent on entertainment & laughter value!!! We hung it on the Xmas tree too!!! The Cotton Arms at Wrenbury - for anyone who wants a laugh!!!! Yesterday,, we had a walk to the shop and a quiet lazy day as the others had gone home. Went pub last night for meal - howling wind! Came back & we even had to have hot water bottles last night. Snuggled under the covers to watch TV - some film called All about love or similar on BBC 1 - load of tat!!! Today, we went home early - bit too cold. So back home, reading my Nigella lawson & year of family recipe books, that were waiting for me when I got home - fire lit & on the gluhwein! Aunty e
I love camping, I just splurged on a new tent (it's a 4m diameter bell tent), but OH isn't keen. Luckily, I get to tour down to Devon each year and camp with Imperial College Operatic Society for two weeks on my own, which normally sates the camping beast. it sounds like you had an amazing time! craftyhunnypie
I can't describe the buzzy thing here, but remember it came out of a machine in the gents loo, not the ladies!!!! Party? Well normally, I'm a quiet one & don't drink much. But in the presence of my SIL - my god! For every one I had, she nearly had 3! The booze has taken its toll on my skin tho - gone all spotty like, so I would never be a binge drinker or an alcoholic. We watched a program last night on binge drinking - very frightening & anyway, someone who lived near my parents was a big binge drinker & died in her drunken sleep state! So that was a lesson taught to both me & my sister at a young age! We did consume a lot this weekend, but it wasn't binge drinking! What we really enjoyed was the quiz & the pictionary. SIL's fella had to draw Bognor Regis, but he misread it & drew ....Banger (a sausage) Regis!!! And Tear gas was represented by a person crying & a bottom with a cloud coming from it! Dear dear!
