Blackrocksrock
I work in a vets - you need to find out if they do chickens - if not you will be their resident expert in chickens! - You also need to be able to clean up after animals -(better than humans anyday) and not feel queasy - anything else you need to know.... Just ask and good luck - you will do well I can tell.
Rona
I think we are all watching this with excitement as it is the sort of job that most of us would love to have, so all hoping that we can bask in a little bit of Chelsea's glory when she gets the job. chelsea
Awww thanks everyone you are SO supportive (brings a lump to my throat! ) I really want the job but I dont think I will get it. I think there will be a lot of candidates so I will be lucky if I do. I dont get queasy (I love poo picking after my chooks! ). Im used to dealing with distressed people every day for the airline and used to abusive people aswell . The main criteria of the job was "excellent telephone manner" which I do have, but I suppose if someone else comes along with experience im snookered. the job also states assisting farmers with TB testing (so I have been reading up on DEFRA) and also milk tests. The post involves 1-2 hours a day of lab work. Susan if you could give me any pointers on what you think I should relay across in my interview it would be much appreciated (what would you be looking for if you were interviewing for a colleague?) thanks. little chickadee
OOh - just caught up with this Chelsea. The very very best of luck. Wow them with your enthusiasm but don't give up if a candidate with more experience gets the position, there will be others

lizinsa
At my last interview the topic got on to football (I support Sunderland through thin and thin!!) and we spent 20 minutes of a 30 minute interview talking about it I got a place, so it must work! Then again, you do support Chelsea, not sure how much sympathy you'll get

chelsea
hellooo im here!! Interview was at 3.30. Arrived early and was met by practice manager and one of the veterinary partners who interviewed me. I felt the interview went well (but you can never tell can you?) we talked in great length about chickens!!! vet partner was very interested in the hen parties I do and was asking what breeds I had. (he had just bought chickens at the weekend), we almost went off on a tangent about chickens and it didnt seem like an interview. The lady (practice manager) was sat there completely baffled by our chook talk and was in hysterics! I was shown around the whole practice, (operating rooms, kennels, reception etc) and was introduced to everyone. I get the feeling the person is more important to them than experience (which helps me) he actually said it was more about personality, and he said I had a smiley face I was in the interview for 45 minutes. The job is very varied, lots of dealing with farmers & TB testing results, booking appointments, helping out on reception and weighing animals in reception , and lab work. I think I have a slim chance, she said they have had loads of applicants and she was astonished at the sheer number. All I have to hope is that I wowed them with my dazzling smile. Fingers crossed and thanks sooo much for your support it really means a lot. xxxxxx
