MedusA
What a fabulous thing to do! I am so jealous! I would love a smallholding. Guess I'll just have to be content with my 2 allotments. All the best with the venture, and do post lots of updates.
Chicken Licken
Don't think 'incredibly flat' think 'BIG skies' instead (living at 0m above sea level on the edge of the fens I feel qualified to say this!) Go for it and keep us posted..

Valkyrie
It sounds just like we want to do - even down to taking my parents with us (certainly not the dragon-in-law). I think we are looking for smaller scale - we aren't getting younger, but some alpacas to keep the foxes away from the free range hens, now thats ideal. I have even told my dad that he will have to wear a smock and floppy hat, chew some straw and lean over the gate going "arrrrr". He wasn't too happy with that, can't think why. He will be chief potterer and seedsman, so he is happier now. Good luck and have fun Regards, Koojie

little chickadee
Wow - fantastic news. I went to college in Lincolnshire and it's beautiful, but then I'm from Suffolk, so am used to not having rolling hills I hope that you will be really really happy. Good luck selling your house We did it in 2 1/2 weeks (lots of prep before that!) - hope you're that lucky!

Rhapsody
I went to school in Steatham. The one with the tasty green uniform . I bet you are in a much nicer place now. Sarah.x I know the one, the girl's school right? We lived very close just by the common. We swapped a beautiful house in a nice neighbourhood for 40 acres and a Medieval Hovel, I love the land and woods and go hacking every day and have enough animals to fill an ark, but I do miss the sociability of London the folk around here can be hard work! MedusA
I think i'll avoid Boston aswell as it sounds like its a bit funky there My Mum lives in Sleaford (not far from Boston) and she loves it there. The shops are great in Boston and she prefers it to Lincoln or Grantham. She says it's a bit weird walking down the street and the main language you hear is Polish, though. She even jokes about doing an evening class so she can understand what they are saying. I lived in Lincolnshire for many years and it is a much-underestimated county. I'm sure you'll love it there.
