This is my children's idea of what they want to do most in the world during the Easter holiday! At least it's giving us a chance to sort out how to fit all the family and the puppy and the greyhound in ......... we had been wondering, but I think we're about sorted now. Just about to go and drink hot chocolate!!

 

I never thought I would own a caravan, but when we were camping last year, there was a really bad hail storm. We were sitting huddling in the tent (in July!) while all the people in caravans were happily sitting on their little sofas having cups of tea. That clinched it! Luckily the last owners of the house had a special caravan bay in the garden, so it fits perfectly . It's beige, brown and 22 years old, but we've been away in it and had fun a few times last summer.

 

Anyone else doing anything a bit bonkers tonight?!

After years of camping (in minus temperatures) this is exactly the reason we bought a caravan!!!

 

Enjoy your caravan adventure! im sure the kids will love it. You should have tore out some pages of a travel brochure and stuck to the windows and then you could have imagined yourself there!!!

I'm trying to get some rest, been running around a lot lately and with the split and work and everything else I feel a bit wrung out.

I've had a cold and sore throat for over a week now and it's getting me down too.

 

Now where's the bottle opener......

 

We've stayed in our van on the drive before now, when Joe's brother came to stay with the great dane - didn't have a spare room done in them days and Bertie is FAR too big to fit in the caravan - you could always talk to the children about the poor people who are still living in their caravans on driveways after the summer floods.....

This sounds like a fun thing to do as a family, and the kids will love it My children loved to sleep in a tent in the garden in the Summer.

Sounds like great fun and will be much warmer than a tent - just take a hot water bottle with you to bed. It will be like a holiday really. To them it is an adventure.

Layla and I slept on the drive in the camper last year.

 

We were hoping to camp somewhere around Thetford Forest after going out to the Dinosaur park at Lenwade - everywhere was full

 

I joked - oh well we could just go home and sleep in 'Charlie' on the drive - 'Yeeaaaahhhhhhh' was the response. So we did.

 

The postman was very surprised when he peeped through the curtains at us

 

Layla and I are hoping to go off in the camper on Thursday or Friday to either Sacrewell or Thetford Forest. The next trip will hopefully be Southwold.

 

Have a fantastic adventure - no sneaking back into the house tonight.

My brother is living in a caravan in my father's garden at the moment! I think the novelty is beginning to wear off.

We pick up our "new to us" caravan in about 2 weeks, (the previous owners are servicing it before they let it go!!) it's also an "oldie", but thats OK with me!! the only first hand things I've ever really had are the kids(!!) and the skelter!! Even the house is 1881, so cant be classed as New by a long way!!

We're off on hols next week, Rosie and I - my folks annual treat for us. Cyprus this time, and a very nice hotel too. A week of being pampered and sleeping methinks... oh, and catching up on my reading

Have a lush time, Claret, we're off to a caravan in Woolacombe for a cheapie w/end out of the Western Morning News!!

It has lovely swimming pools, apparently, and is about 40 mins drive for us!!. It's not how far you travel.... but got to be back Sun pm, for school on Mon, they go back, and I've got 2 weeks off!!

OOh what fun - my best friend's dad had a VW camper van, it was probably state of the art in 1970, and we were allowed to sleep in it, on their drive ... it was so exciting.

As a child I spent 18 months living in a caravan and land rover in Africa - my parents had an adventurous moment and wanted to explore Africa

 

Charlie can't wait for the warm weather then she can camp out in her den

Did you have a good adventure in your caravan? It sounds like it would be fun. Unfortunately I have neither caravan nor tent I tried to win on on freecycle last year , needless to say it went very quickly.

Good morning all. I've come inside to the "shower block" for a while and left the children out there. Quita (the guide dog pup) slept really well - better than she normally does actually. She just seems to take everything in her stride. She was incredibly excited when she was let out of her crate this morning (which fits exactly in a space in the caravan) ad realised that I was on a camping bed on the floor. My face got rather slobbered!

 

The kids also slept really well even thought they were so incredibly excited. My son helped to make porridge in the caravan this morning like he normally does in the house (he's going to be a chef! ) but was a bit scared of the flames (we don't have mains gas, but the caravan has a gas hob) He waited quite a while before waking my daughter up with a cockeral crow!

 

It's the first time I've heard the dawn chorus with added chickens. I think one of them was laying an egg at one stage, which was a bit noisy, but I think they added to the chorus nicely!

No we're not (We explained that to the children before we camped out last night!!!!!!! ) You just have to shop around with campsites price wise. Some are really expensive but have club houses and really posh shower rooms etc. We don't want stuff like that! There's a really nice cheap campsite on a farm the other side of BSE if you want info Tina (if I can dig it out from somewhere)
