ajm200
Officially, I'm a stay at home mum but it is the hardest work I've ever had to do. Unlike an office job where you get to clock-off at some point, I never seem to stop but I wouldn't swap it for the world.
Mutrix Farmers
Officially, I'm a stay at home mum but it is the hardest work I've ever had to do. Unlike an office job where you get to clock-off at some point, I never seem to stop but I wouldn't swap it for the world. I only work because it's easier than being a full time domestic executive!! I work full time and use my lunchtime to post or read the forum. If I didn't do this I'd just work through my lunch hour, so thankyou fellow Omleteers for restoring my work-life balance
chickencam
I have been in the office with my OH for the past 2 days constantly photocopying and the red arrows have really piled up . They are far more important than cleaning in preparation for SIL & BIL's visit on Friday
Earthchild
I work full time, but I'm based at home and I own the company so I say it's OK for me to be on here all day
Seagazer
I'm a full time mum although that excuse is rapidly running out. YS will be in Year 6 in September and wants to walk to school on his own. Its a slippery slope - OH has been commenting on my continual computer classes for the last four years - 'when are you ever going to get a job' I will one day, just need to build the confidence up a bit first..... Clur
I work full-time (around 50 hours a week) and I log-in from work too, generally when I suffering brain freeze and need a welcome distraction! I work had enough, and don't abuse internet use, so I'm ok with it...I do keep the screen really small when I'm browsing though, just in case anyone sees
crazygal
I work part time, and find plenty of time to come on here when I should be doing the domestic stuff! I'm currently ironing two items, then reading a thread...
MadMitch
We packed in work in November me after 26 years in electronics engineering industry and OH after 34 years in the same. Moved to Wales for a change of lifestyle. Taking a year out but also doing up properties for something to do, though as you can imagine the market is a bit quite at the moment. Only work about 6 hours a day though so I have plenty of time for chickens and forum.
Chicken Licken
work I'm afraid - to keep the mortgage paid and me in chicken food and dog treats. I am usually on the forum in the evenings, although not recently due to the rubbish GCSE marking (done purely for the money - not for the love!!) and being on the allotment. I don't go onthe forum at work - I would get into all sorts of trouble!
The Dogmother
I work too - as a single parent, I need to do a 40 hour week to keep the wolf at bay. I love my job though and have a great boss; I usually keep the forum minimised in the background so that I can take a break on it when I need respite from whatever I am doing. I also tend to pop on here late in the evening, when I really ought to be gettting to bed. At the moment, I am at home recuperating after a major op, but am spending less time on the forum than ever as sitting still quickly gets uncomfortable. Guest
I've worked since leaving college at 18 so approx 20 years. First in a bank then in the communications industry for approx 18 years for 3 different comms companies. I loved it because it was an ever changing industry and never got boring. Started out in a mobile phone company, then a landline company which progressed into business telecoms and eventually ISDN, broadband etc etc. I worked for one company for 11 years and did a bit of everything and my last role was process writing which I adored because it was so varied, I was autonomous and set my own schedules. I helped with process audits to make sure we were compliant. When I'd written the processes I also helped train them out. I was on good money too. I had to leave because the travelling was wearing me out. It was a hard decision to make. If I could have worked from home I'd still be doing it! I got a job closer to home and was there for about 12 months but I had to leave last year for health reasons (long story). My future, at the moment, is undecided but I do want to get back to doing something as soon as the doc sorts me out!
whittlewitch
I work part time form home, but I am finding the forum a little distracting at times and addictive!!
FORENSICA
Hi, I do not work since I am full time at UNI. I looked for a summer job, but then I found out that I was pregnant (hurray!!) and so I selfishly decided to enjoy the last free summer
Mrs Frugal
Congratulations Veronika and good for you for deciding to enjoy the summer while the time is all yours .
Helly Welly
I don't work. I gave up when DD came along and only went back to pay for her to go to nursery as she needed the stimulation. Once that became free i stopped again. I can't work now as i'm too disabled, no-one would employ me The forum is therefore my lifeline and the place where i chat the most, especailly now it's the summer hols. rusky123
LOL, We retired last year and now only work about 36 hours a week, just to help our business a bit. I reckon work is a bad habit you fall into over the years! . Just come home from a 13/14 hour shift, buzzing mentally, physically shattered. Getting too old for this. My Mum told me when I got married, nearly 40 years ago, always earn your own money for a taxi home , or to buy the knickers you really want . My Mum has lived with us now for nearly 20 years, well into her 80's, fab, and still likes to 'earn her keep' by doing the washing and ironing. I love the Buzz and cameraderie of work. Want to be home cos of the ducks and dog, but work wins everytime. I dont say that when I am working!! A funny, I think, aside, my 'darling' MIL told me in her very blunt way that she has worked much harder than me all her life cos her house is dust free, she even had her dog put down because it left white hairs on her black drive She was actually 17 years younger than me when she really retired! AJuff
I teach full time and wouldn't dare look at this forum at lunch time otherwise I'd get nothing done!!! I like to keep nice things like the Omlet forum for nice times at home. It gives me something to look forward to when i get home or in the holidays. During the holidays my three children are all at home too so I never really stop. I love family time . . so special.
