Things that annoy you...

Recommended Posts

We have been told umpteen times at my kids school not to drive onto the school grounds and there is a hardcore of mums with large posh cars who obviously think this rule is above them and sail onto the school morning and night putting the childrens saftey in jepordy. This drives me potty on a daily basis.

That really bugs me too - some people seem to think they are entitled to do whatever they want. Parking on the zig-zag lines is another one. Why do they think they are there?!

This one really, really annoys me! Lots of parents park right outside my YS's primary school. There is a raised bit where the kids and parents cross the road (no lollipop person this side of the school). So many parents park right up to crossing and they are usually driving huge gas guzzling 4x4s - grr. I stand outside waiting for YS as I always walk with the dog and I fear one day I will witness a child getting run over because the traffic can't see past these selfish, idiotic, lazy parents! How would they feel if it was their child that had to cross there - some of Year 6 children make their own way home and would not be able to see past the cars. Ooh I'm really angry typing this..... Calming thoughts now

.....

people in general annoy me though. sometimes i think i should just go live in a cave somewhere.

that made me laugh, Sartre said "Hell is other people"!

When I'd had a particularly nasty person on the end of the phone at work, I always used to say I was going to move to the Hebrides and keep goats (away from people!).

I got a better deal, I keep chickens now instead!

Just to track back to the school parking thing.

A child was knocked over once at our school. Fortunatly she was unhurt and things were better for a week or two. Unfortunatly people quickly forget and the effect did not last long.

There was an altercation last week between one of the mums and a resident whos house she parked across at the entrance to the school which got very unpleasent and the police were called. All of this took place infront of lots of watching children. This particular mum is one of the ones who insist on driving into school when they are told not to park in school or near the school entrance.

It all got very nasty. Methinks she wont park there again :D:D:D

What makes these people think they are above the rest of us??

Im chilled again 8) Not good for my blood pressure!

Pretty much all of the above!

Poor manners - there really is no excuse, it doesn't cost anything.

Here in Thanet it seems to be the done thing to step out in front of a car and then dawdle across, with a sneer over the shoulder as if to say "I'm hard". All ages do it, not just stroppy teenagers!

I'm in a grump tonight so this list will come easily!

People cutting their grass at 8 in the evening used to bug me when my children were small and were asleep at 7!

parents stopping at the yellow zigzag to let their precious offspring out at school (I've told drivers off a few times and had some lovely language back - in front of the children  )

people talking about events that you weren't invited to in front of you

or worst still- inviting others to something but then not including you  - that's just bad manners even if you wouldn't have expected an invite anyway.

drivers tailgating when you are doing 30 in a 30 mph zone

mothers who speed through 30 mph zones with their children in the back

delivery companies who will only state they will deliver between 7 am and 7pm - I mean come on who is able to stay in for 12 whole hours for a delivery??? :?

people who like status symbols- especially cars or put a lot of emphasis on belongings

narrow mindedness or people who think that only their way is the right way and if you don't do it their way then you are wrong.

 there that's better!!

People who don't know the length or width of their car and basically think they drive tanks...

Men who overtake in dangerous places instead of leaving for work earlier in the mornings

People who constantly ask if I will do anything for cash when about to order a product - do they ask that at a supermarket?

Telesales people who have ignored the fact that I'm regisitered with the Telephone Preferance Service and when I say I'm not interested STILL try and talk me into whatever it is they are selling!

Grrr.. off to check my blood pressure

governments who tell 'people' not to waste food while supermarkets still throw out tons and tons of perfectly good food and don't get a slap on the wrist!!!!!

My BIL delivers newspapers to supermarkets and told me that if ONE jar of jam for example is broken, they throw out the WHOLE box/crate!

He has started being a freegan and has brought us jars of chutney, jam, pickles that are prefectly fine and dated 2009 but been thrown out because maybe one or two of the jars in the crate were broken!

Now THAT is what annoys me and it's a total disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So many of the statements really bug us too many to mention, so getting back to the original theme of child orientated rants.

We hate people who drive round obliviously, with children in their back seats of their cars with no seatbelts on, or even worse (generally in the back) on their parents knees. So irresponsible and so dangerous :evil::evil:

Calm Now 8)

okay, here's a child orientated one then.

we don't have kids so can pretty much do what we like when we like but if we tell our friends (the ones who do have kids) where we've been or what we've done, some of them say in a whiney tone of voice...

"It's alright for you!!!! If we didn't have kids we could do this, that and the other....etc etc"

Well, first of all, I would like to have children but can't because of my health and secondly, it was YOUR choice to have kids so don't say "It's alright for you...."!!!! Don't blame your lack of a social life on your kids or on me for being the one who doesn't have kids!!!!!

There, I've done a whingey rant now  Not sure I actually feel any better but had that compulsion to throw my hat into the ring!?

Wow I thought it was only me... :D My BIGGEST pet peeve or annoyance is people and the use of mobile phones...while in line at the grocery, the coffe shope, on the bus,and talk at a volume which distubs everyone around them...."I don't need to know your dirty laundry dear" :!::!:

Got another................

 People who let their children run around in restaurants, while they have a meal, not caring that it is annoying & disturbing to other diners.

 Bigots.I will not tolerate anyone making racist or sexist remarks,& especially having a go at someone because of their sexuality. Even worse when they say it in front of my children, who I have brought up to have the same moral & attitudes I have.

A relative did this the other day - he mentioned that a rock star my daughter likes looks less than masculine. He left shortly afterwards, shocked that we didn't care what said rock star got up to behind closed doors,or what he looks like,& that we think hes fab whoever he chooses to sleep with!

ok here we go lol there's probably alot and I probably agree with most of the ones mentioned but another few that really get me:

- People who want to pay for something (food/clothing - ive worked in both kinds of stores) but spend the whole transaction talking on their mobile and don;t acknowledge that the cashier is actually a person NOT a machine

- people being RUDE to sales assistants - if you look confused I WILL ask if you need help ITS MY JOB and if I didn't then you'd complain about the lack of customer service

- People who don't smile back when you give them service with a smile - whats the point?

- Stupid, ignorant wasters who have children and bring them up to be the same as themselves!!!!!

- The fact that I usually end up giving up my seat on the bus having paid £290 pounds for the bus pass even though I have knee problems and find standing that length of time hard just because no one else has the manners to do so

- People who push a young child in a pram and smoke over the top of them YUK

- VIOLENCE - to people or animals again whats the point?

- people who buy pets for the children that end up neglected

- people who think im lazy and a waste of space cos im a student

- people continuously asking me if id not like to go away on holiday this year - well duh yeas I would but I have my uni fees/accom/bills to pay and i'd rather not have a loan so what would be time for a holiday needs to be spent working (hence in not lazy!!)

I think thats most of them but is early and im grumpy so they came easily lol

My biggest peeve is people who make judgemental comments that are based on total ignorance. Being someone who seems to make many life choices outside of the mainstream, I come across this a lot and I have to use all the skills I've learnt in my training to be non-judgemental back! The things I've been told off about (usually over the internet or indirectly on tv. debate shows etc.) without the aggressor doing any research at all are:

* not vaccinating my children - totally irresponsible and selfish according to all those people who think they've done research into vaccines by reading the Daily Mail!

* breastfeeding for longer than 1yr - apparently only for my own benefit because babies no longer get any benefit at all from breastmilk after a year (or even 6m for some people - we've got formula for heaven's sake - why breastfeed when you have something produced by science?!)

* keeping chickens - but we've all had those comments (particularly about keeping chickens in an eglu!)

* home educating - my children will end up as social outcasts who can't cope in the real world (because school is *so* like the real world!). In addition, how can the state tell if my children are being educated without testing them???

* bedsharing - there is something seriously wrong with my five year old for wanting to sleep with everyone else instead of wanting to sleep in a room on her own, apparently

I could go on...my bugbear is not with people who disagree with my choices - that's fine - it's with people who make judgemental comments and actually know nothing about the topic they are making judgements about.

I particularly like people who admit they know nothing, and are confused about some of my choices and then *gasp* ask questions :)

Sorry that got so long - it's just such a big thing for me when people are rude.

We didn't vaccinate our children against Whooping Cough.

Our research was done extensively and with great thought (Him Indoors has a medical background) despite being Daily Mail readers

To cut a long story short, our children all got Whooping Cough. :? The youngest was 10 months old and was very ill indeed. Hospitalised etc.

I'm not sure that I would make the same decision again. tbh.

He's six ft and ugly as sin now, I'm delighted to report.
