alison
I have been down to the pen this morning and I have lost Marjorie Lanson, my They put themselves to bed as usual and I closed the pop hole, shooed them out of the nesting box, sure I counted six. She must have been taken or disapapeared when they were free ranging between 8 and 8.30, although they are inside netting. She has been escaping regularly, how I don't know. I had checked to make sure she couldn't squeeze under the netting, or that there were any gaps, Oh dear, I shall have to round them up earlier, although I can see them from the house, we watch them when eating dinner at 7.30-8.00 She was the first to lay and head hen, she was the most affectionate and tame. I thought it strange that they did not come out jet propelled as they normally do from the cube, who will be head hen now?

lisa33
So sorry to hear about Marjorie. Maybe she'll come back?? Keep an extra eye out now though. If Mr Fox took her he'll be back for more.

superjules
She may reappear today, having spent the night in a tree somewhere. Don't give up hope. Do they have access to the cube when they are in the netting? One of mine gets a bit fraught if she can't get to her bed at dusk and just aims for the highest alternative. Egluntyne
Fingers crossed. She might turn up safe and sound. I always put my hens away around seven o'clock at this time of year, rather than waiting for them to make their own way home. They don't see so well in the dark, and I imagine they get a bit disorientated if the light drops below a certain level. Let's hope that is all that has happened to her. Ain't Nobody Here
Sorry, I really shouldn't laugh but an allergy thong sounds even more uncomfortable than a normal one .
