My sons have deduced that every time I hang out washing, it rains within 30 minutes. I dash out to bring in the washing, and it stops. As I refuse to use the tumble dryer in 'summer', I seem to have been hanging out a lot of washing.

 

 

 

So I hereby offer a heartfelt apology for the wet, miserable weather we have endured this summer. I am the weather fairy and it's all my fault.

Me too. I was shivering and it is supposed to be August.

 

It is usually me that causes it to rain by either hanging out washing or getting my hair to look reasonable.

Me too; I usually hang it out, then go to work and it immediately rains!

 

I've got the chimney sweep coming tomorrow so that I can get the stove lit in the evenings - I've been piling on sweaters

It's BOILING up here today - first day back at school for the children, so Squidger and I have sat in the back garden for most of the day, getting the new chickens a bit more used to human contact.

 

And I got 2 loads of normal washing and a load of nappies dry on the line.....

Drizzly, wet rain here today. I still did 3 loads of washing in the hope of rain before 7 fine for 11 The drier has been on twice

 

Still quite warm despite the rain. Our cottage by the Castle seems to be a lot more cozy than our cottage by the sea was This is good because we do not have central heating only nasty storage heaters I wouldn't mind it being a bit chilly tonight then I could light our first coal fire, lovely

We've got a lovely day today, bit cool, but the sun's out and there's a breeze too, and my washing machine has just completed a cycle.

So, not a cloud in the sky and potentially a good drying day.....sho uld I go and peg it all out and tempt fate

Phew, glad it's you - I thought it was my fault as we're due to go camping from tomorrow!

It's my fault too: I've straightened my hair, finished knitting my summer jumper, and got bicycles for the boys, so rain is guaranteed! The only thing I haven't done is washing my car, i'll wait until we've had a dry and sunny period before I tempt the weather fairies some more.

 

Plus my girls' egg production has gone right down: for the past few days one egg per day (between 10 hens!!!), today: nothing, zilch, rien de rien, nada de nada!

 

Anybody getting less eggs than usual? Any ideas of what I can do to encourage them?

I did it once this year in the hope of raining off the carnival fireworks display , and that was the only totally dry day we had in two weeks

 

Willing to try it again (though the sun usually comes out just when the schools go back)

Lovely day here yesterday. Hung out 3 loads of washing. Watered my plants at the back of the garden and to top it all...put out the paddling pool. Result.........Tipping it down with rain here today
