MedusA Posted September 20, 2008 Share Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) DD went for an interview on Thursday for a post of Assistant Psychologist within a community outreach team dealing with people with dual diagnosis (e.g. mental health and drug addiction). It was only part time but she is getting desperate now, having been to so many interviews and just being pipped at the post by someone with "more experience". (Don't get me started on the debate of how does one get this experience if no-one will give you that first job)! She tries so hard, bless her, but the field of Psychology is soooooo competitive. Anyhow, she didn't get it, but the employer has told her that they were so impressed with some of the interviewees (including her) that they are going to consider her for another full time post that has just come up within the same service. She should hear on Monday if she is successful, but I am such a great believer in the power of positive thought, I am asking that if anyone can spare a good luck vibe or two, they send them her way. They did say that if she didn't hear yesterday, not to panic, as it probably only meant they hadn't made a final decision yet. She had another interview today, in Stoke-on-Trent. She still hasn't heard back from the Birmingham job, BUT the hospital in Stoke that she went for an interview with yesterday, phoned her up yeasterday afternoon and said she was the best candidate by far and offered it to her! She must have done a really good interview because, due to major delays with the trains she was 5 minutes late getting there! (She did phone en route and tell them she might be late) Admittedly it's a bit of a commute, but it is doing exactly what she wants to do i.e. working with older people with Dementia, so she's dead chuffed!
