Do you support a Football Team & if so which one ?

Recommended Posts

As I read a topic tonight I notice there was a reference to Sheffield United .

So I wonder who else supports a football teams on the Omlet site.

Any team is allowed.

It is just a bit of fun.

My views are ..... Where ever you live support the local team because that is where the new stars are going to come from to give our national teams new players for the future.

My local teams are Blackpool FC (The Seasiders) also Fleetwood town.

Best regards to all supporters though out the UK.

Ian,

Check out the footy thread - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30042

The footy people on the forum mostly support "Ooops, word censored!"nal these days - about 5 of us do (all the sensible ones anyway;) ) Chelsea (shes quite cool for a chelsea fan ;) ) Villa (Martin where are you?!) Dan and Debs - Wolves. Bolton (someones got to eh Phil?!) Worcester City (who?!)

I'm a gooner but my local team are Brighton and Hove Albion - i look out for their score but they have just signed Robbie Savage so i won't be cheering for him!

We do not support our local team.. they are pants. - Cambridge Utd.

Although we have taken the kids a few times and they just said I'd rather watch a kids gameor our local village mens side than this. (they have a point)

Hubby and the kids support Tottenham which are equally pants at the moment but their support runs deep

The boys both play themselves, so it doesn't leave a lot of time to go to matches when we are at theirs.

I support my local team...Walsall FC. (I grew up in Walsall) I am the very proud owner of a season ticket and have been for 6 years, been going though since I was 12 years. We have good and bad times..but I'm a Saddler thru and thru and will always be there.....

I was born in Wallsend, about 5 minutes on the Metro from the centre of Newcastle, so black and white is in the blood. Been with them through thick and thin, even thinner than it is at the moment.

It doesn't get much thinner!

I wasn't born in the north-east and have never lived there, but am the daughter of two exiled Geordies. Cut me, and I bleed black and white stripes. Supporting Newcastle United is genetic and I would be excommunicated from my extended family if I didn't.

OH is a brummie, but as a little lad he chose Liverpool to be his team because he liked the way they played. He's been a fan all his life and it shows no sign of wearing off now!

Our local team is Leeds United but neither of our boys is really into football - they shout for Liverpool when Daddy's about and laugh at Mummy when Newcastle lose.

I am not a real football fan to be honest. However, the rest of the family (particularly OH and DD) are foorball mad. Beth plays for two teams so the weekend is taken over with her activiites.

AFC Bournemouth is the most supported team in this house. My parents in law moved to that area in 1986 and both started following them, My late father in law became chaplain to them from about 1991 to his death in 1999 and my OH goes to every home game and takes one or both of the kids. It is a bit of a drag from here, especially at the start of the season when the roads to the South Coast are clogged with traffic.

The Cherries are having a bit of a torrid time at the moment. They have been docked points because of financial problems, with the result that they were relegated last season - meaning that they now have far more financial problems. I am afraid I just don't get it.

It seems absurd that there is so-o-o-o much money at the top of football but that the lower leagues really struggle. I really think that there ought to be some obligation on the top earners to put a persentage of their (frankly obscene) earnings into a pot to help the lower division clubs. Otherwise, the grass roots will just wither!

Sorry - rant over!

As a family Liverpool are our big team, because OH grew up on the other side of the river, DS is a passionate foodball fan.

Our local team is Cheltenham Town, we have gone to a few matches each season for the last 4 seasons, saw them get beaten 2-1 by Newcastle in the FA Cup 4th round in 2006 when Alan Shearer just missed a landmark goal, we queued for 2 hours in sub zero temperatures to get tickets. We saw them promoted to the 1st division and then stay there for a second season although things aren't looking too good this year :(

Great atmosphere and fantastic views of the surrounding hills from the ground :D

"Ooops, word censored!"nal for me here, mainly due to OH influence, but I like lots of clubs: Growing up, I supported Ipswich as they were faintly local (East Anglia), but more importantly, had a horse as their emblem  . My great uncle in law (tenuous, I know) played for Fulham in the 1930's and 40's. My Dad had trials for Charlton, so there's another soft spot and now I live near Swindon, I always look out for them too.

I always supported Man City when younger because as they say in Manchester when discussing such matters, I was properly brought up. :D

As a teenager I got dragged along by a friend to watch Stockport County play, as she fancied her brother's friend and needed me to tag along so as not to be obvious.

Since moving to Sheffield we have become Blades, but one son is letting the side down by showing Wednesdayite tendencies. :?

We support two teams - Ipswich (because OH used to go and watch them with his grandparents) and Bromley (fairly local and used to see the matches often when younger).

Worcester city for me.

The link below is from WCFC's resident "movie maker" who puts clips together after each game she goes to. This is from Bromley 0 Worcester City 2 earlier this season.

I supported "Ooops, word censored!"nal for years, and then the players all started acting like Prima Donna's and I found the lower division games more interesting. Then there were too many foreign players - quite sad when "Ooops, word censored!"nal produced lots of players for Scotland, Ireland, Wales and of couse a few for England. Bertie Mee Ruled OK!

I also supported Kilmarnock - it was the only team with a "K" at the time.

I also supported any underdogs - they needed it! :)

OH supports Reading, but he is a closet West Ham supporter.

Basically I only support England nowadays, but get cross with the wimpy players. Scottish players work hard playing their socks off for their country - the great Dennis Law springs to mind. All England players do is worry about their salary, miss drug tests - Hmmm, wonder why - and do atrocious fouls and get sent off in crucial games. Not forgetting that they also get big headed and play pat-a-cake with the ball in the middle of the field, lose it and then the game!

I don't like cricket - I love it!!! :D Yay Hampshire Hawks!
