hillfamily
I'm sure between all of the South Coast Omleteers, we can take care of most of the front of the opening queue...........there's going need to be some serious training and strategy planning
little chickadee
No Fair (Stamping feet in tantrum) I want one in Suffok (although I very much doubt there's any chance of that ) I really do miss IKEA. I used to live in Brum, but it's such a long drive from here to the nearest one it makes the savings kind of negligable. We are going soon though as my mum & grandad are buying us some stuff to update our natty bathroom for Christmas. (it really is truely horrible, but we're going to hide it with large mirrors )
Cinnamon
I want one in Reading. It has been muttered about for years
BarbaraJ
Our nearest is an hour away so as someone said the savings you make are a bit irrelevant
Cooks
typical, we never get any decent shops in Cambridge. Although there is talk of a Matalan so that pleased my friend
earthmam1
The latest new I have is sometime in February .. It should be in the local papers and I have heard they will do local "flyers". When I hear any opening dates I will post it. Its going to be really busy though the road already gets gridlocked at times
crazygal
I want one in Reading. Hear hear! At the moment its either a treck down to Bristol or brave the roads into the Wembley or in the case of our Billy bookcases- fork out for delivery!! Redwing
Don't do it! I got stuck on the M25 for eight hours once because they were giving away cheap sofas at the opening of a new Ikea! I used to work 30 seconds away from both the Wembley and Bristol ones and used to go there in my lunch hour for some retail therapy! Cinnamon - is Milton Keynes not slightly closer for you? bluekarin
I can't wait! An Ikea only 45mins away! I would say I'll have to convince hubby to take me, but I'll save my breath and I'll ask my mum or sisters. Maybe a reason to learn to drive Hmmm?! Dodge
Make sure you take your flak jacket and tin hat and a bottle of water to avoid dehydration. I bought my kitchen from Ikea, it's fantastic, but I had to go back 3 times due to bits being out of stock. Each time the queues were horrendous. So I went at 22:30 on a Tues night to beat the queue I spent an hour wandering around like you do, got to the checkout and they had 15 tills open and each one had a queue of about 10-15 people. It was past midnight when I got out. They have just spent £34 000 000 on updating the carpark which means even more people can get in Ikea have some great products and a cheap restaurant, however the shopping experience is a total nightmare. hillfamily
Ikea have some great products and a cheap restaurant, however the shopping experience is a total nightmare. The first time I went to IKEA ...... about 16/17 years ago.......I nearly gave up and left. But never one to fail at a challenge, I persevered and succeeded in my quest to purchase what I went for :D Many, many, many, trips and years later and I now have IKEA and their shopping experience sorted
little chickadee
Yep, you have to know when to go and where everything you want will be. Take a veteran with you if you havn't been before! We nearly never went back after our first time, as we went on a Sunday during the school holidays bad bad move - no parking - vile. Eventually we figured out the evening on a weekday was a much better idea!
The Dogmother
I lived equi-distant from 3: Birmingham Milton Keynes Wembley If we go, it's always late in the evening so that it's quiet, and we have supper in the cafe.
