Tis scary the first time - the other person on w/e tried it on her own the first time and didn't realise she was in the lungs.

There was only the 2 of us there so she panicked and didn't know what to do - had to do the swingy upside down at the end of your arm thing to clear it, and then keep getting it to sneeze. Thought he'd gone but he was ok after

What an awful night you had! Laughed at the wee though as that's something that happens here quite frequently as Ben can be a bit of a phantom piddler and it always seems to happen in the darker part of the house where it can't easily be seen.

I woke at 4.50 and the first thing I thought of was the lambs Hope today is easier and that they take a little milk.

Just a thought, but is the ewe healthy? Do the lambs have a temperature and are they scouring?

hope you are having a dryer day today like we are having up here, it will make dealing with the lambs that bit easier I would imagine.

Thank you all - toilet roll is now the right way round! , we had a better night and the weather is glorious

 

The ewe was poorly but better once she'd delivered the lambs......just had no milk. As far as we know, she's still OK. The lambs don't have a temperature and they were scouring slightly but that seems to be better.

 

It was 1am before we finished sorting them out and I'm afraid I just couldn't face getting up - they'd had a very good, warm feed and they had a heat lamp and a 'pillow mummy' so we didn't get up until 7am

 

We took their milk out and the sheep started baaaing as they thought they should be fed first - a little answering baa came from the outbuilding The two little ones were fine......and hungry! I wonder if I've been trying to force feed them - that's what comes from reading two books on sheep as well as the instructions on the milk replacer bag They took their milk well and we tried the stronger one on the lambar - the rack that holds the bottles of milk. He was OK but it was the wrong height - the next rail up was too high - so we've bodged together another rail at the right height and he has ben a bit more interested although still not too sure what he's supposed to be doing. We've also set up the better heat lamp ready for tonight. The 3 chicks had the best lamp.......and they are inside

 

We've left the door to the outbuilding open so that they can see more as the weather is so good!

 

The cows were bellowing at us at midnight - they would very much like us to bring in a boyfriend for them......but I've told them they're far too young! It was scary down in the outbuilding and Carl had to go back to the house for the pillow........the Muntjac started barking and near gave me a heart attack We've seen a couple of them over in the far corner by the stream and Jazz is always chasing them - they are so destructive and have already taken a few of our young orchard trees and are eyeing up the new ash and beech trees in that corner.........I must admit that we don't stop Jazz from chasing them

 

The big dog duvet is drying on the line - it had to lurk on the airer over the bath yesterday as the weather was so vile.

 

I sat for a while and watched the bees - it doesn't get much better than that!

I'm glad to hear the lambs are getting better and recovering from all the set backs they've had. I love little lambs with their waggily tails!

 

Oh dear about the dog pee everywhere...it reminds me of my brother in laws sister, as her cat was really old and had matted fur, so she had to shave him to tidy it up, then she took pity on it and let him sleep in her bedroom as the utility room was cold. She then woke up to find him by her head after having peed over her hair...

The weaker one went downhill again this afternoon - he's had a shot of penicillin now and I'm hoping he's picked up a bit by the next feed at 8pm.

 

We took them both out in the sunshine - even if he doesn't make it then at least he will have felt the sun on his back. He seemed quite alert but was hunched again. He could have Joint Ill which could have entered through his umbilical - the penicillin will help if it is.

Lots of snuggles & strong wishes to the two little boys, baby creatures all have a wonderful warm smell to them, hopefully we'll be able to get up to my SiL & see their lambs over the holiday ......gentle hugs to Lauren, praying for a problem-free week at least ........and calm & relaxing thoughts for you, Carl & L's M&D.

Morning! - little lamb is still poorly but he's taking his milk well. He's had more penicillin so all we can do really is keep our fingers crossed now. We might speak to the Vet if he doesn't pick up a bit more.

 

We did have a very big lamb to contend with though......

 

 

She likes all the dregs from the bottles and won't leave me alone until she's had them My fault for starting it in the first place Jazz just looks at her with complete contempt!

Little lamb is slowly getting better - if it is Joint Ill, and he survives, then he will never be right. We will give him another few days on penicillin and see how he does, he baa'd quietly this morning and he has started standing when we come in with the milk. He actually suckled properly this morning and took a whole bottle in just a few minutes.......the other one takes his from the bottle rack in seconds!

 

 

Today they are called Buster and Cassidy (as in Hopalong... )
