Chook n Boo Mum Posted December 6, 2008 Share Posted December 6, 2008 Am absolutely beside myself with excitement.... my step-daughter produced her first baby DH's first grandson this afternoon and I can't even get in contact with him because he's on the road collecting DS!! Chook n Boo Mum Posted December 6, 2008 Author Share Posted December 6, 2008 My step-daughter, the new mum, is only 7 years younger than me & I "inherited" her when I was 19 & Grandad (DH) was 38, so twice my age ! I just hope that her mother (the ex) isn't there when we go to meet the littl'un, she will do a full " I am the grandmother" routine, same as she did at the wedding - I thought even she wouldn't do the "I am the Mother of the Bride" bit, but she did. I will just have to think "I am 20 years younger than you & slimmer & not so wrinkled as I don't drink to excess nor smoke...." thoughts - and rise above it all !! When I suggested that no6 would be nice (extremely tongue in cheek I have to admit!) his very adamant response was "NO", not even his usual non-committal "if you want", very much in the "I am not even going to discuss this" kind of way. Unusual for him to be authoritarian, but not unpleasant !!! Thank you all, can't wait to meet the little mite tomorrow, got lots of do before we go though, so Omlet will have to wait for a while - hard as that will be!!
