poachedegg
I got a clapper ........Now when I'm in the living room, I can turn the light on in my bedroom with just a clap of my hands. It also came with a remote control whiche enables me to turn the light on in the house when I pull into the drive. Is it one of these - as ES wants one and I thought it was just a gimmick!? Can I buy a vowel?? http://www.jmldirect.com/Clapper-PC9923/

fowlbird
we got all lovely things although I was a little worried about the all year round diary (The Reading Woman's Diary from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts) from one of my sisters... I thought she was expecting me to be organised and actually write in it luckily she bought it because I'm a Reading Woman and she thought I'd like the pictures (paintings of women reading) the interesting gifts stopped arriving when my dad and stepmother stopped sending us stuff

Valkyrie
From Dragon-in-law - a musical cake slicer. It plays 4 tunes: The one where you leave the church at a wedding (can't remember the name) For He's a Jolly Good Fellow Auld Laing Syne (Did I spell it right?) Jingle Bells It is so tacky and reeeeeeaaaaalllly loud! But it did make everyone laugh. My brother usually sends cow related things and this year was a mug (quite nice for once) with funny cows going "moo" all over. Also a coaster with the A Team on it. Sadly it is not the original cast but cartoon figures that look like the South Park people. DS gave me an ice s"Ooops, word censored!"er for the car (unwrapped), oh well I did ask him for one - but he could have wrapped it. He also said next time ask for something more expensive! Damn - should have got that in writing! DD bought me a lovely ceramic chicken which looks like Apache - and it is a wobbly one. Just to make ANH jealous - my mum bought me a collection of Geoff Hamilton DVD's.
Ygerna
I got a cheese grater from my OH. He did also buy me some chocolates though. 6 boxes (yep, you read that right SIX ) No one ever needs that many chocolates from one person for the same day. Even more upestting is that I have been going to Weight Watchers and lost over a stone I really do think that its the thought behind a gift that counts, but, he seems to have put zero thought into it, and thats what upsets me. Lesley
Loved it. I'm like the more "mature" women at the end........... - I hope you mean just with the lights? Laura - you just can't go wrong with a pack of A4 paper Ygerna - wrap the chocs in packs of 2 or 3 and keep them in the freezer! You can still keep going to WW then - and enjoy the chocolates. (now let's see if I can take my own advice! )
little chickadee
) I got a cheque from my mother ...... with my maiden name . (I've only been married 20 years .) Just noticed she's dated it 2009 . Not sure if there's a message in there somewhere . My husband's family always put the wrong name on any cheques to him. He was named after a relative but then never called by his first name (ever) so even his parents forget what his actual name is and put the name they call him on the cheques. It's just my poor husband who has to put up with the fact that his real name isn't the one everyone calls him (never understood the whole thing personally )
