- No, we saved the cider from the Farmers' Market until they er..... come back The man who makes and sells the cider had three pigs at the same time as us. His went last week and we've been comparing notes over the last few months. I haven't asked him yet if he's cooked any of his.

 

When we got back from the abattoir and we still had Matthew and his trailer, we moved the two Berkshire girl pigs into the boys paddock. They spent a long time wiping a white gloved finger over all the dust and turning their noses up at the state of the bed After a complete change of bedding they were quite happy and made extensive use of the spa facilities - a good mud facial seemed to do the trick!

 

It doesn't feel so bad now because the little paddock isn't empty. We couldn't see the girls temporary area from the house so easily, but we can see the paddock. By the time the girls go off, we will probably be slightly relieved because the weather will be worsening.

 

The 3 boys were such characters and we've been left with 2 teenage girls with attitude

 

Next Tuesday - we will have all our own home-grown veggies and pork

I think so.

Someone was saying on the radio the other day (and I was only half listening) that pork scratchings contain 108% pork. Not sure how they work that one out (unless its 98% pork and 10% repeats.......)

These weren't mass produced commercial scrathings - they were proper Black Country butchered scratchings.

 

If you look on the back of any scratchings they always come from Tipton, Wednesbury or Wolverhampton.

our local village paper has an advert for oxford sandy and black piggies - £70 each or £1000 for the whole 16 - what do you reckon Lesley, will they fit in my back garden

We paid £65 for ours - and £40 for the Berkshires.

 

You might be able to fit in a couple Mel - how about an extra anniversary present? - or an early Christmas present?

Surely you'd need to get some more pigs ready for the spring

 

You'll have all the sausages ready for barbeques next summer - that is a really scary thought, NEXT SUMMER!
