Ardene5
we do not like snow here, it is not good for spaniels paws Suzi barks at it! Hi We have 2 boxer dogs ( girls) and when they grit the roads around here it gets on to the paths. A trick we do is to put Vaseline on their pads to stop the salt getting on to the paws and causing problems. Hope this helps. Best Regards Ian & Valerie

Chook n Boo Mum
We used to have a border collie like Blackgold's. He used to love the snow & come in after playing with us & lay in front of the fire chewing the iceballs off his skirts ! His other party trick was to whip the gloves of you hands & run away with them....... My girls love snow & go bananas everytime they see it, not that that's very often, we're too close to the sea ! SarahJo
Well this will be fun this morning - have to listen to radio to hear whether schools ARE shut. Sort my boys out then get into work (independant school). wonder what the news will be like later - last time the country/schools over reacted to the threat of snow - now we have a couple of cms the UK will no doubt crumble and come to a grinding halt Anyway - enjoy the snow everyone - vaseline the doggies paws - my spaniel/collie gets big clods of snow forming on hers, then she holds the paw up for me to remove them Oh - anyone flying from Manchester - airport is definayely running as usual, another plane has just gone over. Having said that will the staff be able to get into work (joking)

lizinsa
Woo Hoo I have a snow day I love the way London comes to a grinding halt when the snow falls. Unfortunately I'm going to have to do some work from home but at least I can be on the forum and watch daytime tv

Cinnamon
Total white out here & its forecast for the rest of the day too....the sky is full of it! I am assumin the school is closed although it hasn't been on the list yet.All others in area are shut & our usually shuts at a sniff of snow as its at the top of a single track steep hill, so the school buses can't get up. Girlies are in bed & delighted at missing double German

bigmommasally
Some snow had drifted down the edges in the chooks run this morning. The girls were very this morning to see their world had turned white overnight and didn't know what to make of it. It was hilarious watching them try to stretch their necks to reach the food without touching the snow.
Snowy
We've had a sprinkling over night, but it's coming down thick and fast now! School is only across the road, so we can't skip that unless it is closed (very rare occurrence!) but I don't fancy driving into town to take littlie for his swimming lesson! Olly
I reckon we've had 4" (sorry, don't do metric!) or more here, and it's still falling. Cars are stuck on the road outside my house which is on a hill. Unfortunately the Central Line Tube is running, albeit with severe delays, so I think I am going to have to struggle into work the chooks were most bemused, they refused to come down the ladder for ages. I feel really sorry for them, despite shower curtains etc there was some snow blown into the run. I feel even sorrier for the robin hopping about outside the run, poor birds must be desperate. Here's hoping work send us home early ...
Shirl
How infuriating, Es school isn't showing as being closed. Another parent has called to find out if E is goiing. I said not. I can't see the point in risking an accident for a days education when it could be shut when we get there. We have roughly 4 or 5 inchs of snow and our road isn't gritted. If we had that much here I wouldn't hesitate in keeping them off - far more educational to let them enjoy the snow for a day (and think of the science lessons you could incorporate!)
