Lewis
Has anyone seen: these recycles plastic hen houses? I've just spotted them, and although they look nothing as good as an eglu, they're cheaper. Is this someone else trying to rival the eglu ? What do you think of them? (silly question on an eglu forum )
Cooks
they look like an old coal bunker type thing to me, horrible IMO!!! plus no skirt around it, a fox would be right under that!
McChook
It's quite ugly, isn't it? I wouldn't want my pretty girlies living in a ugly house. Eglu/Cube for me every time!!
Lewis
I thought it would be the opinion I personlly don't think its that ugly, especially if it was on a farm, and they would be better for farms too if you wanted a few because of the lower price. I wonder if anyone on here has one
Cooks
I dont like them but that's only my opinion, I dont like asparagus either *shudder* or squid *yeuuch* but I let others eat them. Each to their own.
The Dogmother
I remember a thread about these a while ago..... each to their own I guess.
Egluntyne
Me too. I wonder where they got their inspiration?
Lesley
Wasn't it Mark? (Angels4) - it was on sale in the US. It hasn't taken long to come over here then.
dancing cloud
The run looks quite short (didn't see any details, just looks small relative to the chooks) and it doesn't look as easy to take apart and jetwash. No sign of poo trays, roosting bars, or feeders/drinkers (or run skirts) so when you add all those in it's probably not that much cheaper - and it doesn't come in a wide range of fabby colours . Happier with my and very happy indeed with my .
feemcg
The run mesh is way too big....looks like a hen could get her whole head and neck through it.....then bitten off
Seagazer
It looks a bit too 'industrial' for my liking I'm afraid. Very boring colour as well.
Guest
I wonder why there aren't enough details on the site? Seems strange. None of the pictures give a clear or full image of what you get. nesting box? poo tray? door locks? Can you shut the house at night? I'm slightly suspicious of the lack of detail. I thought exactly the same thing. Wouldn't want one in my garden but it's an interesting concept!

Thats a shame really, if they gave full details they would sell more surely To me it has a few faults but they probably had some expert advice so if they gave a full explaination about how they think the design points work then it may put some minds at rest and more people may buy one
Charlottechicken
The run mesh is way too big....looks like a hen could get her whole head and neck through it.....then bitten off They've used the same sized galvanised mesh on the dog kennels and rabbit hutches, all are very similar There's not much difference in price between the hen house with base and run, and an Eglu. The Eglu is, of course, far superior I quite like the shape, especially as a dog kennel, but I imagine they are not twin walled like Eglus. I do like the animal shelters too
Janty
I don't think that they are that much cheaper considering that the run is tiny and they look awful.

TAJ
You were asking are there any others another poorly designed, overpriced one is called chiccube - we saw it at a show last year - it adds up to more than an Eglu and not as functional. Guest
there aren't enough photos on the site to make a decision really. I'd want to see top, bottom, back, front, sides, inside etc etc. I think it's presented quite poorly on the web site. My first impression is; looks okay but would want to see more of it and where is the ventilation for the coop bit?
ruth1
Yeah there was a thread about these last year im sure, I saw them at the Highland show, not attractive but an interesting use of recyclable materials.
Sheilaz
The Eglu is so well designed for consistent temperature inside and good ventilation and I can't see that this plastic one has those features. The shape looks rather familiar but not the rest of the concept. Eglu for me everytime! Recycled plastics tend to be sludge grey, so we'd have to forfeit the colours if Omlet were able to offer them. I worked in the plastics industry & thought when customers ordered "jazz" it was an interesting colour, I imagined rainbow swirls. Very disappointed to find it was grey made from offcuts. Interesting pic, but nothing like the real thing for me.
Olly
Not equal to an Eglu or Cube, with that boring colour! but I do like the fact that it's recycled. Just had a quick flick through their other products, the Hen Shelter would be good if you had a big free-range flock. I recognised the Ecogrid stuff though - friends used this on their driveway, and amazingly it keeps the gravel in place, and stops it from spilling on to the path or being churned up when they drive onto it. I'd definitely use it if I ever have gravel put on my drive. I wonder if it would work in the chicken run ...
Blackrocksrock
Don't like it at all - eglu for me
