Premier Inns your experiences please

Recommended Posts

As everyone else says, good value for money, clean and tidy. It's handy having somewhere close by to eat as they are usually near a Pub/Restuarant.

Room may be cramped if there are 4 of you.

Travelodge has come on a lot too in recent years but they often aren't next to a restuarant (Little Chef and Macdonalds don't count in my book). Rooms are similar to Premier Inn in every respect.

They are the first choice every time for us.

Only ever had one bad experience (Portsmouth overnight before a very early ferry) and that was all down to the attached restaurant rather than the hotel and was sorted with a free bottle of wine!

Glad to know that our experience at the weekend is the norm. We stayed just up the road from my inlaws with our youngest and were really impressed. The breakfast was great too, YD ate for free and we had cereal and toast followed by a full English :D

The night before we had a lovely relaxing drink in the bar with my BIL & SIL and then had a great night's sleep.

We will definately go again, for once it was as good as advertised :D

We have stayed in another much more expensive hotel near my inlaws which cost £170 for an inter-connecting family room, and the room was no where near as clean and on one occasion we had sheet which had holes in. In that hotel YD had a really awful put up camp bed with a broken spring.

My inlaws can only really put up 2 of the children, so they had the eldest too and a great time was had by all. :D

We stayed at the one near Gatwick before a recent flight. Very clean room, friendly staff and the breakfast was as good as I have had in any class of hotel - and much better value than most.

My only gripe was that the air con didn't work which meant that we had to open the window and the coach to take passengers to the terminal kept coming and idling its engine for what seemed like hours from the early morning onwards.

I should have complained for my free night but it didn't seem worth the effort bearing in minid everything else was fine.

Hi Everyone

We needed to stay in Manchester over the last weekend and had to take our dogs

we spoke to them and were told NO dogs.

So we contacted Travel lodge and there was no problems at all. So we would say Travel Lodge is best but that is only because it was best for us.

Everyone will have there own preference.

Best regards

Ian & Valerie

we stayed at Tamworth premier inn a few weeks ago (dads birthday, so full house and no space for up  )

it is the greenest premier inn in the uk (apparently :D ) and had little sensors in the ceiling so you see how much energy you were using 8)

it was lovely, definitely an option again in the same circumstances

haha glad no-one has anything bad to say, I used to work for premier Inn till Oct of last year.

They are good quality and they have very vigerous audits that will penalise you for absolutly everything which is why the standard is pretty high.

I go to a lot of conventions so stay in assorted hotels, B&Bs and travel lodges etc, and I have found that I now always go for premier inns or travel lodges and the like, as they generally are the same across the board and you always know what to expect. I have paid sometimes far to much to stay in a place which I have been very disapointed in, either uncomfortable beds, bad breakfast, scruffy decor etc. The chain places may not be romantic or classy but you know you can get a decent nights sleep and a good breaky in the morning and thats all I care about.

Are the London ones more expensive than the rest of the country?

Yes most of them are. Wimbledon is about £80 a night usually for example.

I have stayed in more of these hotels than you can shake a stick at and have never had cause for complaint whatsoever the staff are usually very good and the rooms clean and tidy with a great duvet!

Travelodge (as someone else says) has come a long way and you can't beat them if you need to have 4 to a room however I find they vary so much more than the Premier Inns which are a lot more standard. The Travelodge in Wembley is a shocker :shock: and makes me realise I have lived quite a sheltered life but the one in Gatwick is very nice for example :D
