Anyone been camping/ Caravanning in 2009 yet?

Recommended Posts

We went away in October last year when there was a heavy frost, so we know we can hack it! The plan was to go away in the Easter Hols, but, because our new Guide Dog pup won't have had all her jabs then we can't as there are normally lots of other dogs at Camp sites.

So... tonight it is. Think of us when you're tucked up nice and cosy in your beds tonight. We'll be in a field on a farm. Apparently there are loads of baby animals for us to look at and also an adventure playground to send the kids off to. :D

No but I ordered a tent yesterday so we can go camping this year 8) As a child we often camped when it was seriously cold and as long as you have enough layers and sleeping bags you're fine - although difficult to brush teeth when the water has frozen...

We're going down to the coast next weekend to open up our caravan :D I can't wait. The sea wall at Dymchurch is my screensaver at the moment and the view is along the coast to Folkestone - sigh. Makes me feel happy

We were down there in January overnight to close it up. We did Devon in October in a caravan and that was quite cold.

We will be camping at Easter, which we do every year as it's the first good motorbike rally after the winter.

Last year was the first time I have ever seen notices in the beer tent warning people about the risk of hypothermia!

It went down to minus 6 degrees - thank goodness for thermals, good boots and Jack Daniels!

I love to watch the sky for satellites and shooting stars - especially if you are away from light pollution.

Have fun

Not yet, I was fancying going somewhere - anywhere, during the Easter hols, but hubby didn't fancy it. Think it might still be a bit cold for the kids - we're in a tent. We are booked to go to Holland for a fortnight in June. Can't wait, :D anyone know what the weather might be like there? I'm guessing it's similar to British weather.

I have been put off camping after being flooded out in South Wold in 2007. We slept in the car and my then 5 yr old was totally traumatised. I dont think he'll go in a tent again, we yuff hostel now, at least it has a roof. Last yr we stayed in tudor one it was soooo cold. I nfact a tent may have been warmer. I might camp abroad somewhere hot but not in UK. Yes I am a WUSS :D

My hubby adores camping. The wilder the better.

His last wheeze was to go camping in the Langdales for New Year ....they get quite a crowd there... Heavens :!::!: we live only a few miles from there. We can do day walks from there and if you fancy a drink at the local you can avoid tent hypothermia by getting a cab home.

No, not for me .... loved it as a child but like my home comforts now. !'m still nursing four verrucas on one foot from the last camp site shower :cry:

Was away in our caravan this weekend Came home to first egg. The weather was good on Saturday but gusting winds on Sunday for our return. Had to make a detour with our caravan on the way home due to Ouse bridge being closed to caravans. Don't laugh but we went on a caravan club rally at Eggborough village hall. Themed across the pond, line and barn dancing the night away.

Dont mind caravans, last yr we stayed in Torquay, only downside were the gulls who ran over roof in what sounded like hob nail boots!:shock: Going yuff hosteling this weekend hope its a bit warmer than last yrs which as mentioned was Tudor and had holes in wall thro which the wind howled. My youngest used to wake me to spend a penny and it was so cold and spooky I hated going downstairs in case we met a ghost  There was a pole in our room which probably held the building up, however friends hubbies said it was for me to pole dance on yeh right :roll::roll::shock:
